SLP Sounds like **** with a/n aftermarket x/h pipe..I had the SLP LM 1 Catback and then purchased and O/R Bassani X pipe and it sounds like **** just crackles and no tone..so I switched to the power flow and its alot quieter, but still has that nasty crackling sound(srt-4) so I am getting some super 40 flowmaster mufflers welded in..time to go with that old muscle car sound..and then maybe do headers..Stay away from the straight through style mufflers(SLP). It just doesnt sound good.

keep the packs, removing the cats and buying a o/r H pipe will get you the tone you desire if you're looking for SLP. Trust me.. i know all. Had 3 or 4 different exhaust setups.... all with the magnapacks.

You need to listen to exhausts in person. Try to go to a local mustang clubs and take a listen to what others have. Vids are helpful but not accurate as it depends on how well it was recorded. All this bashing of SLP is ridiculas it sounds different and loud which is what it advertises. If I switch to another muffler I will not be on the bandwagon of ex owners who bash SLP. If you want the loudest system out there SLP is the one for you but its not for crybabys or a daily driver. If you like the classic mustang car sound SLPs are not it. At this point you dont know what you want but start looking at vids here and in other sites https://mustangboards.com/exhaust-videos/?pp=30 but remember some vids sound better because it was recorder better or at a closer range so use it as a guideline.

I would keep it how you have it now, but if you must switch go Borla Stingers. I have had both packs and stingers and both are great.

I agree. I have the magnapacks with a o/r prochamber and love the loud tone. my buddy took it down the road and I could hear it 3 blocks away when he started it up

Ive been to mustangexhaust.com but two clips of the same exhaust setup can vary so much. Taking out the cats would prlly be the way i go, maybe if i get sum guy to weld in straight pipe in place of them.

Have you actually heard your exhaust from the outside? You usually cant tell how loud it is from the inside. Have someone take your car for a spin around the block while you listen to it.

True^

Also, I would think hard about welding in straight pipe in place of your cats. I heard a 4V cobra recently that had Stingers and straight pipe with no cats. At idle it sounded like sex on wheels but one little touch to the accelerator and it was ear piercing loud.

Literally me and my friends plugged our ears and were all military guys with bad hearing now anyway, that setup is waaaay to loud in my opinion.

I've had 2-chamber flows and a Bassani X since 1999. I still love the deep, rich muscle-car sound of the flows. The X does add a slight rasp, and I do like the down-shift popping that the car makes. I've heard SLP's and Magnapacks in person many times. They do sound good, but just aren't for me. I think an exhaust note is a purely personal thing. You can only put so much weight in another's exhaust opinion. You've got to hear them, in person, to make that "I definately want that sound on my 'stang" decision.

i bought a 01 Roush and it has the stock shiny Magnaflows and a prochamber sounds nice and mellow @ idle but when you get on it Its annoying as s@#% to me!! Doesnt help that its side exhaust even though i love the look. If i switch to an X-pipe will it mellow down? Iam actually trying to quite it down! thanx ahead for any input fellas.

hey i got the bbk o/r x with flowmaster mufflers that came with my car when i bought it, so i assume theyre 40s, i like the sound of it now, but what i really want to get is either magnapacks or slpIIs, this thread has helped me alot to stay away from the slps, but dude keep the magnapacks and take ur cats out, or better yet get an o/r x (BBK!!) then ull be happy with it

Oh my god SLP sounds like azz.....I randomly ran into another mach 1 owner yesterday and we got to talking and he mentioned he has SLP LM I....I asked it he like the SLP set up and he said NO! ha ha ha...Then he fired it up and revved it up a few times and it just sounded horrible....just horrible

Keep your magnapacks and get an O/R X or H pipe and it should be plently loud.
