exhaust convertors
I took the convertors off the exhaust. Just wondering if I need to keep the front two sensors plugged in or the back two. If I plug all the sensors in the car cuts out. If I leave the one undone up front the car runs without cutting out.Am I loosing out on some power by not having these hooked up right? Does the computer need the front sensors plugged in to operate at its best? Please help if you can. Thanks! The car has, underdrive pullies, flowmaster exhaust,3:73 gears, cold air intake. Also, does the computer need to be reset whenever you make a change on plugging in the sensors? Or will it do it itself?

you need the front in...but keep both in and put in MIL eliminators on the rear o2 sensors...or have them turned off by a hand held tuner

Something is wrong here. You'r car shouldnt be cutting out. You might have a bad front o2.

Thanks for the feedback folks! The last time I had it on a computer, the guy working on it said something about the sensor might be bad? It sounds like I will have to try a new sensor up front and shut off the back ones. If you all do not have any more suggestions I will give it a try. Thanks again!

Should I leave all four on? Or will it run better with the back two off? And just run the fronts?

with an offroad pipe (without cats) you need to shut the back two off electronically or use MIL Eliminators. With stock catted H-pipes the rear two should be left on. With a catted aftermarket pipe you should still turn off the back 2 or you will sometimes get a CEL.
If your car stumbles with the fronts plugged in, then you need to replace the front on one or both sides. |
Thx I will give it a try in a few days. Thx again!

The front 02's are for a/f and ALWAYS need to be hooked up/ on. The rears are for emissions and pretty much read if the cats are doing their job.

I had MIL eliminators and sometimes when I first start my car it trys to die. But now that I turned the o2 sensors off, it has never done that again.

A Big Thx
Thanks to all who have replied. I will replace the one up front that was giving me the problem. Also I will plug both fronts back in and electronicaly shut down the backs. I will reply with the results when I get it done this weekend. I am sure from what all of you have said, that I will be happy with the results. Thanks again!
