Default I'm at a Loss

I just came to the realization that in about 14 months, I'll be leaving for college, and my stang will stay behind for at least the 1st year. It kind of makes me reluctant to spend any money on it, knowing that by the time I graduate in 2011 and really start driving it again, it'll be NINE years old!

It also doesn't make sense for me to do something like buy a 5.4 block and slowly build it up as money comes in until it's complete, as it's likely that I'll have to leave it right in the middle of it's construction and it will just sit in a garage for months at a time collecting dust.

What should I do?

umm...keep working on it anyway if you still think you'll be interested in the car. Plus it'll always be there when you get get back and its a way to keep miles off of it.

You're both right, and I'm really excited about the fact that I'll be keeping miles off it. It gets driven far too much currently, much more than I'd like. It also gets left outside a lot during the day, exposed to rain (especially lately) and the fuggin hot ***, paint fading, interior destroying sun.

Keep the Mustang, work on it when you can and enjoy it. Get drunk and laid as much as humanly possible in college.

Where are you going to school at?
If it down south, then why not take it but if its up north then it would be a good idea not to..With me even if i wasent at school i still wouldent be driving mine anyways when I would be in school.. so i pretty much dont drive mine when im in school anyhow

I say start the build up on the 5.4 and if you don't finish then when you come home for summers you can work on it then and when you finish school you will have one bad *** stang with low miles.

Sell it and put the money in a mutual fund. 10k at 10 pecent compounded for 4 years is pretty good money

Or keep it, let it depreciate in value, and sell it when you graduate to buy a house. I hate to be brutally honest, but it doesnt make sense to keep it. Drive it til you graduate, but other than that, it seems to be a waste. JMHO though
