Default vt cams???

I have an 02 gt with the following mods, mac off road h-pipe, flowmaster 2chamber 40 series mufflers, silverline 3.5in tips, steeda tri-ax, 3.73 gears, chipmaster revoloution chip, c&l tru flow intake, 75mm throttle body (fordracing), cold air intake, zex wet kit (100 shot jets) got the 75 and 125 in the glove box,

My next move i want to do before suspension is cams i am interested in the vt stage 2 cams can anyone tell me what kind of power i would be expecting to gain with those and what kind of idle??? im looking for an tough sounding idle.

My car already makes over 300 on spray but I really want it make 300 on simply motor alone it is at 264 without the spray. I have ran a best of 13.0 with my driving (not the best) and street tires in texas. Is there any other cams out there I should consider b4 purchasing the vt stage 2 cams???

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks alot.......

with those cams you will see around 20-30hp. they require new springs as the stocks are not stiff enough to handle them. i dont think you will pass 300rwhp with them. but with those and long tubes you might be able to. they have a very aggresive sound, very lopey. I would also say comp cams ex270 they area high lift cam for the mods and have a even more aggressive lope, and are said to make more power than vt2's.

You will also need P&P heads to cross the 300 rwhp barrier!

I havent seen any of our motors pass the 300 mark without at least ported heads or bumped compression, Im not saying its not possible, but Im just telling you what Ive seen. Now, the vt stage twos are the only cams I would suggest. The comps all seem to have problems with piston to valve contact (whether they all do or not, wayyyy to many people have had that problem) Get the comp behive springs to go with the vt's, and youll be set. You wont see 300 without longtubes, so dont expect it and I wouldnt even expect it without ported heads, but best of luck to you. Its not like the car would be a slouch any way...

You need to put headers on 1st. You got all your intake mods and then you have all your exhaust mods, but stock exhaust manifolds. Think of it as having a garden hose thats has 40psi of pressure and is 2" in diameter at both ends....but 1/4" in the middle. How much water is gonna flow thru there compared to a hose thats 2" the whole length at 40psi?
Your cams will benefit from the unrestrictive exhaust much more. As long as you have those stock exhaust manifolds...you would be lucky to see 15rwhp. Cams and headers...easily 30-35rwhp....with a good tune.

modular powerhouse made 325 with their heads, vt stage 2's and a bullitt intake. http://www.modularpowerhouse.com/for...ad.php?t=15508 you will definatly need heads...probably a better intake.....

Hey thanks 03gt for that forum, I love the way the vt cams sounded. I beleive that as soon as i return from korea I am going to go with Headers and the vt stage2 cams, w/springs. It is worth the extra money for the springs and installation. I am also getting my car custom tuned as I have the chipmaster revolutionary chip. The guy that did my set up recomended the chipmaster over the predator I sort of think I should of went with the predator now but whats done is did. I got all my work done at www.powerhouseperformance.com they seem to know what they are doing and talking about and the installation for the stage 2's w/springs is less than 1000. I bet my gas mileage is gonna go down reasonably huh? Thanks alot for the info guys.................................

I tend to think that heads and cams are needed for 300 rwhp. I recall seeing a dyno or two over 290. A 260 rwhp bolt-on car is pretty dam good w/o LT's. With the LT's and cams, I think you would be knocking on the 300 hp door, but that's it.

Hey man i was so impressed with the cams the way they sounded was awesome, if that was your black one in the driveway i would sit and listen to it 3 times a day as well heck if it was me i would make a pallet in the road behind my car and sleep behind it lol.

No but seriously i am not sure that I saw dyno numbers on the black one n/a with the cams.

Im sure I will be able to pass the 300 goal with the cams w/springs and a set of long tubes. No work to my heads and no intake change either. I sooo cant w8 to get out of this hell hole they call korea i have until september and I will be stangbanging it again. Listening to your car was inspiration to get home and get the cams right away.

thanks to all who have replyed back to this thread im new to this mustang forum stuff and I already feel like a family when it comes to our cars.......

Im going to kauffmans on April 15th for my tune, well see how close I can get to 300rwhp. Keep in mind this is auto, so a 5 speed should have more power then me.

I will be at Kauffman's (Dillsburg, PA) on the 16th w/ about 15 other guys from Modular Depot for a dyno session. Are you part of this group and just made a misstake on the date?

Well see, Lew put down 280, but that was with a ported bullitt intake and 87mm MAF (not sure how much of a difference that makes). Id be happy with 270 NA, for now. :icon_bigg
