TB/P Combo. Worth it?

Im thinkin of gettin a little more out of the stang....

dont wanna go more than 300-400.

Currently i have 04 GT Auto with Diablow tuner, 4:10's, catback, and K&N FPIK.

How much of a difference will i feel with a TB/Plenum? Any brands reccommended?

would i be better off with some underpullys? or would that **** with the mach1000?

and recs here?

dookie2365 06-05-2006 08:57 PM

um well i jsut installed the Accufab 70mm tb/p combo and i can feel the difference. my car is also stick tho so i duno about your auto, your probly feel it tho. i accidently left some rubber behind when leaving form getting the install too.

dookie2365 06-05-2006 08:58 PM

oh yea i also had pullies done at same time as the tb/p, so far id reccomend them both but im also aiming at tons of power for my mustang

Well... let me put it like this.
Does it feel like 400 bucks? Do you leave Grinning? Or thinking "yeah i sorta feel it"

i really would love to just say **** it and spray it, but i have a lot to pay off, doesent seem like a good idea. i still have SOME sort of warranty left. lol....

Rejekt 06-05-2006 08:59 PM

F*ck It!!! Spray It!!!

dookie2365 06-05-2006 09:05 PM

well to be honest my exhaust is what makes me grin when i hit the gas, but its not like your installing any kind of forced induction upgrade, its just a good way to better acceleration but if your not hitting the gas hard you probly wont notice anythign new seeing as it makes no sound or anything, unlike magnaflow magnapacks:beerchug:

Well yah i know. im just kinda hesitant to spend a buttload if when i romp on it i barely notice anything if at all. lol

maybe i oughtta sdave up and get a beater. then get nitrous. so if i **** my engine up i still have wheels. lol...

dookie2365 06-05-2006 09:50 PM

no if u smash the gas down u will feel it, but i got the tb and plenum installed same time as pullies so i feel more then u would with just a tb/p

I'd say your just feeling the TB/PL.

Do it Jack!!I felt a difference for sure when I installed mine.Alot better throttle response for sure.I installed the TB/PL before the gears and the tune and was very impressed with the difference it made.My car run's like a bat out of hell now :punk:

buy a used acufab combo...

Badfish 06-06-2006 04:10 AM

fug that, IMO don't spend 400 bucks on something youll barley feel..unless you have nothing else to spend your money on. save 400 more bucks and you can get a sweet nitrous setup

spike_africa 06-06-2006 07:20 AM

i got my whole Tb and plenum setup used for a total of $175 i think it was a ok deal for my price. If i spent 400 bucks for what i got i would be sad though. There is more power up top, but is it worth 400bucks. NO. go get used stuff.

matrixpuba 06-06-2006 08:02 AM

best part is the car dosent fall on its face at 5000 rpm.
get it

r3dn3ck 06-06-2006 08:43 AM

it's not worth 400 bucks. F#ck it. Spray it. Use a 50 or 75 shot dry and you'll be happy as a clam. Be reasonable about when you use the spray and you'll have a long happy life under warranty. Remove the nitrous before you go in for warranty work.

I have the TB and ported my plenum. Definitely not worth the retail cost but I don't pay retail, so it was worth the 100 bucks and all my parts will transfer over to the 5.4 where they'll actually do some good.

I installed th accufab combo this winter and i can feel a differance. It looks good when you pop the hood too.

zigzaggthefag321 06-06-2006 09:45 AM

I just did mine...I used the Dragon 75MM TB and plenum setup and I can really feel the difference...I added a CAI at the same time as well...I say its worth it...cost me 400 for the TB and Plenom...polished.

I was thinking about adding a BBK TB/P, when I get the procharger. Is there any gain over accufab and BBK?

I looked into the Accufab TB and Plenum and they seemed to pricey to me...plus the guys at MPH suggested Dragon brand TB and Plenum and the folks at MPH are some of the best in the biz so I went with their suggestion...and it was cheaper too.

Looks like tha accufab is the best all around

RedFirevert04GT 06-06-2006 05:00 PM

One thing I noticed when I did my plenum/TB mods was a much fatter bottom end. The peak numbers didn't move up much, maybe 7rwhp total. But from 2000RPM I think it picked up almost 15. Couple that with better throttle response and you've got a decent mod for the money. Some people call me crazy and maybe some of you guys can back me up on this, but I actually GAINED gas milage with mine. Not much, maybe 3mpg, but that's how the numbers worked out at the pump.

jjtgiants 06-06-2006 07:25 PM

Jack, why not get a mid pipe instead? and if you have emissions issues get a catted mid pipe...well worth it! That would probably get your more bang for your buck. I had the C&L plenum and Accufab TB combo on my last GT and it wasn't worth it. I actually lost gas mileage, but I think it was because it leaned me out a little bit and I didn't get a proper tune.

TorchRed04GT 06-06-2006 07:30 PM

I have the Accufab 70 MM TB and Plenum. I noticed a decent gain with it.

dookie2365 06-06-2006 07:36 PM

ok, new story to tell that involves the gains from the tb/p combo. i have raced my friend in his rsx-s over n over since weve both had our cars. he now has everything possible to get before getting to internals or forced induction. first time i raced him with all his mods, i had only an intake and exhaust, and lost by more then 3 cars. today we raced again since i got the tb/p combo by accufab and the underdrive pullies. he still beat me, but by 1 car, and i was still gaining on him before we had to slow down. he even had made a comment to me of how much faster my car is now and even though i lost both times i raced him i was thrilled with how much i gained outta these things. so my point is yea id def. reccomend the Accufab tb/p combo, 70mm
