Anyone still have MIL light on even with MIL eliminators?
Hey all, I have a 97 Cobra, just spent a few hours under my car and installed a Mac O/R H-pipe. unplugged/removed all 4 O2 sensors before I dropped the stock H-pipe. Installed new pipe right, no leaks, reinstalled all the sensors back in there originals spots on the car, and plugged in my Steeda MIL eliminators in line with the back 2 O2 sensors. Drove the car home a lil while ago with the Check engine light on the whole way. I started the car before reinstalling sensors for about a minute to heat up the header flange gasket a little to make sure it fits right (Dad's advise, did install at his house). I never checked the dash to see if it came on then or when my dad was revving the car a littel while it was still on jack stands after we finished. All I know is the light was on as soon as i started up to head home, which was about 35 mins after we dropped the car and cleaned up tools. I haven't scanned codes because I don;t have a scanner yet, soonest I can use one will probably be tuesday at buddies shop. Well the point of this story is, I'm curious if any of you have used the MIL elimnators and they have not worked? I'm wondering if I messed up a sensor, or if it just hasn;t rechecking itself since it ran with no sensors, or if the MIL eliminators are not doing there job. Any feedback will be appreciated, thanks.

You need to give them time. It will take probably 2 days for the computer to pick up the MILs.
Although I have had mine for a while, and they don't work. Im getting my friends dad at a dealership to use his computer tuner from work and shut off the sensors for me.
But I have heard others say they have had their MILs for a long time now and no troubles.
But if you just installed it, yes its going to take a day or 2 for the computer to pick up the signal before the light shuts off.

Same thing happened to me, i just disconnected the battery for a whille, and the light turned off
I might try that, it can't hurt... My light has been on for a while now, but its worth a shot. Has your light come on since you have done this?

Disconnecting the battery pretty mcuh does the same thing as clearing the codes with a scanner. Except u lose your radio presets and all of the computers stored learned info about your engine (the reason it runs perfect all the time). It takes a long while for the ECU to relearn all of the engines optimum settings, so if i can aviod that I will. I have a freind at a shop, I'll use his scanner on tuesday, hope light goes out on its own though, o well, guess i need to give it a little time. Thanks.

I have catted x pipe, and I had a code thrown since I eliminated my pre-lim cats.
I think you're doing the right thing by having it scanned, and then if you can just find someone with a tuner and have them shut them off that way.
Like CSledd, I just had mine turned off with my XCal2

Well, I was surprised to look down at my gauges while driving today and sw the MIL light cut itself off. Hopefully it will stay off, but I may put the scanner on it tuesday anyway, just to see what it finds. I also noticed the exaust note seemed to clean up a lil bit once it turned off, but that just might have been wishful hearing. I still haven;t deceided if I like my car as loud as this. Takeing cats off made a much bigger difference in noise level on my car than it did on my friends Z28 Iroc. I need to drive a bit more before making any desitions, plus I haven;t even had an oppertunity to open the car up yet either, definatly need to get on it before I can make up my mind either way. Thanks for all the suggestions, they will come in handy if the light comes back.
btw, how did u get codes with the catted x-pipe? Seems kind of unfair to spend that much more money to try and have good emissions only to have your car tell you they are not good enough.

I got catted Xpipe for personal preference, nothing to do with emissions for here in Ohio that was suspended starting this year. I like the smoothness with cats unlike the crackling popping of O/R pipes.
I don't know why/how I got codes, but my tuner said it was because the midpipe eliminated the pre-lim cats.
Furthermore, I got the XCal2 for my shift points (auto trans) and for a few more ponies, not for clearing codes, that was just a bonus
