3" cat back
#2
I just added the SLP X-pipe (catted)23008, along with the Magnaflow (catted)99003. I did need to have it welded where the x-pipe joines the system, as there are many points and I heard a small exhaust leak at first, now it sounds really good I think. This was recommended by a tech at Mustangtuning.com, and I'm real happy with the outcome. I have an 01 GT convertible, so if you want an even louder sound you could go with the magnapacks.

Yeah, that's the ticket! Big 3" exaust with 4:10 gears! Then the exaust would work better. Yeah you would lose some torque but the gears would get you in the mid to high RPM's quicker so you could benefit from the high flow exaust. Does that sound right? Mark M

I know MAC makes a 3" cat back, beyond that... If you want a full 3" exhaust, it looks like some custom work is at hand, especially since virtually every header made for any mustang goes into a 2.5" collector, even ones for the 03-04 supercharged Cobra. MAC makes a 3" prochamber (not mustang specific), and 3" H/X-pipes are available for GM F-body applications, so depending on lenght, some cutting and welding could be done, but if your not doing that yourself, that becomes an expensive midpipe. I want to supercharge my non-sc cobra, so I'm trying to find tech on fitting 1 3/4" primary 03-04 cobra headers on mine, but I can't find any with a 3" collector. While 2.5" exhaust is good for most applications, when you get into serious supercharged/turbocharged/nitoused apps, the 4.6 quite easily makes enough to constitute 3" piping. Good luck and let me know what you find, I'll come back if I find something new. As far as lost torque, N2O is a great cheap quick fix, and you can stay somewhat more conservative with gears if you drive this enough to dread killing your gas mileage with 4.10s. Otherwise, 4.10s sound great.
