gas mileage?

so i got gas last night($45) :wallbash: and i only got 11 mpg. now im not really complaining cause i knew this problem when i bought the mustang, but i think i should be getting a little bit better mpg.

any suggestions?

BlitzStyrke 05-04-2006 07:12 PM

It shouldn't be that low. Have you really been romping on it?

PureStang 05-04-2006 07:22 PM

i usually get 11 when im hard on it....but 16-17 when i drive normally....and 27mpg on the freeway

jareds98gt 05-04-2006 07:22 PM

once in a while, but not that often. could the fact that i dont have MIL eleiminators be a problem?

thats def reallly low, i avg 18mpg about half and half freeway/city

ThePunisher 05-04-2006 07:48 PM

I average 19 around town and about 24/25 on the hwy.

RedFirevert04GT 05-04-2006 08:12 PM

Yeah man, get those MIL eliminators on or get the rear O2's shut off and you'll pick up some milage.

nikpin 05-04-2006 10:27 PM

I get roughly 15.5-16.

GREG@94GT 05-04-2006 10:45 PM

21 MPG on 93 when I baby it (not highway)

My MPG are worse on Highway...

USBP382 05-05-2006 01:49 PM

19 city 24 highway:stupid:

spike_africa 05-05-2006 02:50 PM

having an offroad mid pipe with no MIL's or a tune ot turn them off doesnt effect anything including MPG. Your car sounds like its running pourly and needs a tune up.

I'm going to agree with the fritobandito...

If you're getting 11mpg then you need a tune and a tune up. Get your injectors cleaned or replaced and replace the fuel filter, new plugs and wires. I get 8-17mpg in the city and 17-24 on the freeway depending on how hard I'm standing on the right pedal. If I drive less than crazy I see the higher side of that chart every time.

I with the rest, you also answered your own question in your "coming soon" list with the plugs, wires, and coils.

Mine gets about 13 in the city.

customstang 05-09-2006 09:15 PM

ur car is messed up...

my mach 1 got 23mpg on the drive home (interstate, but first day i had it so i had fun), 22mpg when i tried babying it around town for best possible mileage, some highway and city... and 18mpg trying to get worst possible, practically racing stop light to stop light and almost half the tank at 80-135mph

How do you get 8mpg? I dont care who you are that's like almost impossible haha

SpinMedia 05-09-2006 09:31 PM

If you shift at 6,000 RPM everywhere you go and you have 4.10 gears then you will be getting like 11 miles per gallon city.

While in warm up mode the ECU will keep it a little rich which blows my mileage. To make matters worse I drive like a frikkin maniac most of the time which helps to drop it that extra few.

Can you tell me more about the ECU thing? do i have something like that on a manual mach 1? i've never tried stepping on it when cold.

it stands for Engine Control Unit. you use more gas when your engine is cold. the best way to beat this is to warm up your engine before you start driving. just let it idle for 5-10 min.

r3dn3ck 05-11-2006 07:21 AM

If I were patient enough I'd let the thing warm up a little but, I'm not patient so that takes care of that. You can see what the result is.. 8mpg.

yobdab 05-12-2006 03:32 AM

I am getting 19 in the city and I romp on it all the time. I was getting 13.8 until I installed a K&N cai.

mcmmotorsports 05-12-2006 04:31 AM

Worst I got with my '04, 4.10'd, S/C'd, 42lb injector'd GT was 17 City beating the piss out of it.
Best I got was when I was on the way home from the dealership in MD with it....28 MPG.
I still get 23-25 on the hwy with NO problem. 4.10's FTW http://www.mcmmotorsports.com/smilies/rockon.gif

spike_africa 05-12-2006 08:00 AM

yeah but hwo slow do you go on the highway? i cruise at 85-90mph and get almost 30.

It is not that far fetched cause I got 28 with mine on the way home from the dealer cruising at 60. I just thought the 85-90ish is kinda high to still get those numbers.
