Hi im new here but i had a question...

I was working on my car the other day and when i went to turn it on it wont start. it cranks but will not turn over, also the theft indicator is blinking really fast. I looked in hte owners guide and it says that i have to take it into the dealer?? dos anyone know how to restart the theft indicator so that i donot have to take it in??:bash:

Try your spare key, the chip inside might be damaged? i had the same problem a while back my car wouldnt start it was a bad key! My old one was cracked at the base, sometimes it would start & sometimes wont.

My '02 did the same thing...turned out even after trying to reset the theft system....the ECU was bad...it had fried itself.

Can you read any Check engine lights and what did you do to the car when you were working on it?

I replaced the speedo cluster since it was cracked. theft light blinks really fast, and it cranks but wont turn. I hit the fuel pump switch but still wont turn???

Make sure that your contacts are all connecting properly on the cluster. Disconnect the battery to reset the ECU as well.

I was messin with somethin electrical also, and mine did the same stuff. The PAT system on the car is very sensitive, and if it get 1/2 volt too much...the computer will cook itself. Thats what Ford found wrong with mine. BTW i was installing a CD player...just plugin in the harness.

You will most likley have to take it to ford, i never heard of anyone resetting the anti theft at their home. but if you don't want to take it there, you can bypass the anti theft and it will start up. but you will have to cut a wire and run a new wire......
