How to tell if you have gears???
 

Hello all... I was just wondering because I bought my Car used, its the 03 Oxford White GT 4.6, 2V. I ran a 14.1 @ 98mph. I was wondering if there was anyway to find out if I have different gears in my car other then stock without taking the rear apart??? I need to know because I'm about to buy 4:10 gears and don't want to if I already have them in my cars!!!!!! That would really suck ass......So if there is a way can someone on here help me. If your in fayetteville, NC or close by and you know what it would feel like if I had the stock gears rather then the 4:10 GEARS please give me your number and i'll let you drive my car so you can tell me. hmmmmm... with that calc, it pretty much told me I have 3.55:confused:

you have to factor in wind resistance. The gear calculator is only to give you a half-assed idea.

jack up the back end under the pumpkin. put car in neutral. mark a vertical line at the bottom of a rear tire. mark a reference line on the pumpkin and the driveshaft mounting flange at the diff so you can see when they line up. Have a friend turn the rear wheel 1 full rotation while you count the DS rotations. 3.2ish is 3.27's, 3.5 is 3.55's, 3.7 is 3.73's.

Given that you pulled a 14.1 @98 I can tell you that unless you totally suck as a driver you probably have 3.27's. Any higher a gear and you'd had been showing a less stock-like time and trap speed in all probability.

mph sounds like 327's my 373's put me up to 104 mph
