Most bang for the buck

Hey i was wondering the best three parts that aren't a whole lot of $$$. What parts will give me the biggest bang for low buck. No S/C or Nitrous or turbos pleases can't do that any time soon. LMK

UDP's, X-Pipe, and ......K&N in my opinion. The three together give you about 20 hp for a grand total of $350 ish.

Aside from a power adder

1. Cams no doubt 25whp gain
2. Long Tubes and X pipe around 20whp
3. Maybe pullies

Gears wont give you HP but will help with pickup.

Gears, and then midpipe, best bang for the buck power wise. Oh and since you said three, get rid of that stock shifter and get a TRIAX or Pro50.

Off-road mid pipe hands down is the cheapest place to gain power. I recomend the H-pipe. :)

I prefer the X pipe, it makes better power in the upper rpm's which is where our cars make their power. H pipe will give you a deeper old school 5.0 sound though. Both will net you up to hp gain.

gears, mid-pipe, upper plenum/t/b <-- really 4 but they go together.

Guys, the question was "biggest bang for the buck." This is while I listed these three. Also, I was looking for easy to install items. I did not list gears because of installation issues and the fact that they don't actually add hp, however, I think I have changed my mind on them now and would call them a best bang for the buck regardless.

1 - K&N Filter - $45 nets you about 3 rwhp. That's $15 per hp. Only nitrous is a bigger bang for the buck.

2 - UDP's - $150 nets you 8 - 10 rwhp. Thats about $19 to $15 per hp.

3 - X Pipe - This one has a significant range. But the MT X - Pipe will net you a solid 10 for $150. That's $15.00 per hp. More expensive ones will cost you as much as $30.00 per hp.

Other mods mentioned such as headers, cams and gears I did not mention as a "best bang..." for the following reasons.

1 - Headers: Some just don't net an increase and they are a pain in the arse to install. Realistic gains from LT's are only about 15....maybe 20. Dropping $650 on a good set of LT's will cost you about $40 per hp, which is about average for a lot of mods. If you could buy a set of headers for $350 and can install yourself (don't mind loosing a weekend) and it is a set will will get you 15 - 20, then I would say that headers are a best bang for the buck.

2 - Cams: $560 for 25 hp is the same as $22 for hp...Great Mod!, But, for most, they prove to be an installation nightmare. Professional shops that I have called charge $700 or more to install. That works out to $50 per hp.

3 - Gears: I love them. Even at $500 - $600 installed, this is one of the best mods available. 4.10's are like adding 40 hp. Even at $600 installed, that is the same as $15/hp.....They deserve a "best bang for the buck status".

In summary, if you spent less than $900 and did the install yourself for X Pipe, K&N and UPD's and went with a professional 4.10 gear install, you would have essentially added the affect of 62 rwhp to the car! That is still under $15 per hp which is pretty dam good.
