Daily Driver question??

Have you ever got to the point where you have modded your car so much that you are afraid to drive it to certain places? Do you feel comfortable driving your street/strip, weekend warrior, or show car to the movies or to the mall?

A lot of people say "its just a car, your insurance will take car of it". Not true for us. The insurance company can never replace the time(and a lot of other things)we put into our cars.

Stangdude27 01-28-2006 11:55 AM

All the time. I wanted to killed the little girl who rearended my car. And then to find out she had no insurance I was like wtf! But ya I would hate to see anything happen to my car.

Milos 01-28-2006 01:43 PM

I park at the edge of parking lots all the time, but even still I'm nervous

Big Yellow 01-28-2006 01:53 PM

Milo, the corner spot is always reserved for the captain of the high school football team......you better find another place to park....he wants to kick your ass!

Milos 01-28-2006 01:55 PM

:dots: damn you...

lol, thats kinda funny.

my stang isnt a daily driver partly for that reason, too many people i know have gotten their cars broken into around here. when i take it places at night i make sure and park it under the lights or in broad view. but most of the time i take the explorer if im going someplace i'd worry about. i drive my explorer to work just for the wear and tear. my stang sits in a garage when it's not being driven. safe and secure.

rebelyell 01-28-2006 09:42 PM

I worrry about door dings and such, but, a big percent of the time the car next to you will be a driver only. So I usually (escpecially at work) Give a little extra room to the next cars driver side. Hopefully most people do care about banging their door on yours.. :shifty:

I drive mine everywhere too (it's my only car right now), but I do park away from everyone else in parking lots. the cool thing is there's 5 or 6 guys that drive stangs where I work, all well taken care of and we pretty much take the far end of the parking lot since all of us respect each others rides and no one wants door dings...

on the down side, i have THREE fuggin door dings on my driver side door :(

macs03GT 01-28-2006 11:15 PM

Whatever you do....don't park your car in Tucson AZ. The people here do not care at all.....they'll ding your door in a hearbeat and act like nothing ever happened.

MattJ 01-29-2006 01:11 AM

ill kick someones panel in if they door ding my shiit and i find out that its their car. i look on both sides before I take off if someone parks on either side.

FritoBandito 01-29-2006 07:13 AM

Yesterday it looked like it was gonna rain, so I took the iroc. Stang only sees sunny days and no trips to busy parkinglots. I have had my fair share of digs and scrapes on other vehicles, so the stang doesn't see much action.

In regards to the first post, I do sometimes feel that I don't enjoy the car enough because I try to keep it nice. I've put approx. 75 miles on it in the last 2 months.

Mug11 01-29-2006 07:47 AM

It was pouring yesterday... took the car around the block with the balled drag radials, going all over the road. Came back, got the truck :loser:

Stan 01-29-2006 07:57 AM

when i first got my stang i lived with my mom in not one of the safest areas my dad on the other hand lives in a good area and has a garage so guess what i did :)

BlitzStyrke 01-29-2006 07:59 AM

I have to drive my car to school every single day since I live off campus. It sucks but I have no choice. When it snows the lots get all screwed up and two people have scraped my car so far.

same here. when stang comes out when it's nice outside. good thing i live in florida!

Milos 01-29-2006 09:13 AM

my stang sucks balls in the rain, but then again they're the cheapest stock toyo's in the world on it, its soo bad when it shifts (and its an automatic) it'll kick out the back end when the roads are wet.

but other than that, I paid the $50 for the parking spot and I got the first one... so that means everyone gets to see my car going to and from school... unlike the football team captain..

i stole his girlfriend anyway-- :punk:

LMAO Owned, I always liked the spot closest to the exit, everyone sees my car, and I can Dip out fast as hell...

foncarelli 01-29-2006 12:45 PM

I think i will just get a Trunk Monkey with the Anti-Road Rage option:

95STANG 01-29-2006 01:00 PM

We dont have certain spots at my H.S., first come first served so i park as far as possible away from the dumb F**ks that cant drive... people still see me leave... or at least they see tire smoke

This is the reason its only been driven 800 miles in 3 years. I wont leave it set someplace more then 10 minutes. If i go into a restraunt i have to set at a window looking at the car.

stevestang81 01-30-2006 06:17 AM

i hear what frito says....my stang only sees sunny days, no dirt on the street, etc. but i pay a crapload a month for it and i feel like i dont get to enjoy what i pay for...kinda sucks. on the flipside, i can say that i'm preserving the condition and keeping the miles down--only 23,500 on a 2002....not bad.

Rabbit 01-30-2006 06:30 AM

Mine is a daily driver (42 miles one way to work, yeah it sucks) but it's taken care of and parked away from everyone else, except for this new guy that has a 01 Trans Am (runs 12.8's) so he is my inspiration for saving up for a supercharger! :punk:

I've owned my car for 3 1/2 weeks and already put 1200 miles on it. It won't take long for me to have a **** ton of miles, but if taken care of mechanically it'll still be like new!

MachGT 01-30-2006 06:54 AM

My car is a nice weather daily driver. It doesn't see rain unless I get caught in it on a road trip and it sits in the garage for about 4 months out of the year during the winter. I won't take it out until they clean the salt and sand off the roads.

whitethunder46 01-30-2006 07:28 AM

Mine's a DD, I would love to get another car, but I don't think another insurance payment would allow me too, lol. I want to be kind to my stang but it's just too tempting to not get on it every now and then. I'm saving up for a vortech blower. Basically in three years I'll be out of college and then will hopefully be able to afford a place with a garage. Then I'll buy another car. Until then, I'm not really worried about how many miles I put on my car, it'll be 100K+ by the time I'm out. Then I'll just drop in a new short block and some heads, make it a new engine.

herndy_1 01-30-2006 08:00 AM

Our school is currently undergoing construction which cuts the already shotred number of parking spots to an even shorter number. So to drive my stang I have two choices.

1. Wake up damn early to get the first spot where there is a ton of room.

2. Wake up late and park
a.) along the fence in a safe place...but not in a parking spot
b.) in the teachers parking lot...
either way angers the teachers and makes me happy :D

Needless to say, I either ride with my brother or go with option #2 :punk:

I'm going to a college thats 1,100 miles away from home, and I sure as hell won't be able to fly home being a college student, so I have no choice but to take my stang with me. The only thing is, its 2,200 miles round trip, so if I have three breaks, thats 6,600 miles on my car... NOT including my in-between milage.

But going back to the parking thing, yeah I'll probablly have to park it outside and weather, but ****.. I'll bring my car cover with me when its supposed to rain.

yeah but you're the one who bumped it

jjtgiants 06-25-2007 10:16 AM

wow, back from the dead! ha ha ha.

No, I've never had that feeling about any of my stangs. Mostly because I've really only done the basic mods. I know it's my DD so I can't afford for it to be jacked up.
