Lately my front wheels have been rubbing. Just started doing it maybe 2 weeks ago. Did it to both sets of wheels, both being 275's.

Any ideas?

 

no, but what is your car up on? i dont see jackstands

 

I would take the sway bar off anyway.

 

springs... down in the lower righthand corner of the 2nd pic u can clearly see the wheel of the jack. =D

 

Id say that is going to happen with a 275. I know some people do it, but I dunno, seems really wide for our cars to me.

 

What size of a 275 is that?Look's real tall.

 

Springs - The car is up on a jack.

Lance - 275/40/17 is the tire size.

 

Hmmm They should'nt rub.Is it only when you turn real sharp?

Might go with a 265/40/17 or a 35 series.

 

It's really weird kind of. Like if I make a huge turn it won't rub but if I'm going like 65 down the highway and just go with an easy turn it will rub the whole way through the turn.

 

well yeah when you lock the wheel in one dirrection of course they're guna rub, Mine do and I have 245's up front...

 

Yea that is wierd.I'd say go with a smaller tire on front say maybe a 265 or a 255.

 

Mine rub when I lock the wheel. Thats with 245/40/18's.

Newbie question: Is that bar that the wheel is rubbing on, is that the sway bar? I'm assuming so because someone said take the swaybar off and that's where the wheel was rubbing I think. I've been thinking of doing this but was curious how much it'll affect my DD. I never road race or take turns real fast.

 

Thats not the sway bar. The sway bar is underneath the vehicle.

yes that is the front sway bar. I just recently replaced those bushings pictured on my car, and they are called sway bar bushings. You can see some threads in the first picture right behind the rotor shield. That is for the "sway bar" endlinks. I am 100% that it is the sway bar.

 

Well I've heard of a few people would take out the sway bar to help transfer weight better to the rear resulting in better traction. Say I would have this problem of rubbing as well, is it safe and ok to just take out the sway bar even if my car is a DD, although I don't road race or speed around corners.

 

yup it is completly fine if you remove the sway bar, as stated don't fly around corners like a mad man and you'll be fine.

 

heh I fly around corners no problem...then again i'm not a fat *** like you guyz Lol...atleast my car isn;t,,,DOH

 

Ohh, so now it's my fat butt that makes my car rub. I'm be sure to take care of that right away.
