Sohc, Dohc

Two valve's are Sohc, and four valve's are Dohc. Just wondering what the GT's with 3 valve's are?

sacstoy02gt 01-03-2006 08:52 AM

SOHC

Just an extra intake valve.

Is it the # of valve's that determine wether or not it sohc or dohc, or something else

Nope.

My wife's car has a SOHC, but 4 valves/cylinder.

All how they engineer it.

The number of cams determine it...1 overhead for sohc and 2 for dohc..valves dont make a difference

thats not what he was asking...he was asking if the number of valves had any effect on the number of cams in the motor..like a 4v SOHC or a 2v DOHC

Islander03GT 01-03-2006 09:26 AM

DOHC = Dual OverHead Cams
SOHC = Single OverHead Cam

Badfish 01-03-2006 09:29 AM

omg, retard, READ THE THREAD, he knows that

hey dumbass, you wanna try reading that one more time

he's not asking what SOHC and DOHC stand for, he's asking if the number of valves per cylinder have any effect on wether or not its SOHC or DOHC...looks like you need to learn a little more lil boy, mabey next time, i can teach you what horsepower means

WOW is everyone stupidfied from New Years or what? Dunno if you got it out of the other posts but the number of valve's does not contemplate wether its SOHC or DOHC just how its engineered as sacstoy02gt said! :beerchug:
