Default bbk shorty header + slp xpipe install + SOUND CLIPS!

Man did this install suck. I recommend you to never install headers if you have to do it or help. Now I hear people talk about not having to drop the kmember to install these and my question to you is HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET AROUND THAT? It took me and my master ASE tech 6 hours to knock this job out. We did the job at our dealership where we work so we had access to all the tools, pnumatic, lift, and everything else thats available. I put the engine hoist on the vehicle so we could lower it and have better access. The kmember weighs about 300 pounds and we dropped that. After fighting with everything we get the stock manifolds off and mid pipe. I think to myself "its smooth sailing from here..." and nope, it sure isnt...

We get the drivers side ready first. the dip stick is in the way so we cut a sliver off the edge of the header and get ready to put it on. We get a few bolts on and there are 3 bolts on the bottom that have ABSOLUTLY NO ACCESS to. It takes EASILY an hour to put on and bolt up EACH header. The passanger side air line DOES NOT MATCH UP EVEN CLOSE. It took 45 minutes to get that bastard on without trying to strip it. BBK's fittment is garbage. SLP and BBK also dont send the right bolts to connect to eachother correctly. Luckly I can run into parts at work and grab whatever bolts I need. BBK also decided to shaft me on header gaskets so I goto ford and they are 28 bucks a peice, and you need 4 because its just a 2-peice design. Lucky I got the senior citizen discount (im 22) so I paid 90 bucks for em. I went EVERYWHERE in town requesting these the day before because BBK's and Brothers Performance's idiotic mistake. well passanger side is even worse. We had to push the engine to the drivers side to get the damn header in place and remove starter and both motor mounts. man its been such a long day. i got 3 hours of sleep before I woke up to do this at 8am to 3pm. I also got my steering shaft jammed when header went on so I gave it a yank and just ripped all 4 wires out of my o2 senser on the header. after more problems we get the car back togeather and i try to start it and its dead. i forgot to turn the key off when we were messing with the steering so it doesnt lock. I get the car started and it sounds great in the shop, so I take it for a spin and I hear what sounds like a constant blow off valve on a supercharger. My passanger side exhaust after muffler is rubbing on the wall. We fix that with some bending. I also had my muffler touching my driveshaft and we had to fix that.

Car hauls *** and sounds great though. I dont get to drive it though, so it went straight home and back into the garage. Ive got a "before" sound clip of my exhaust, ill get "after" this sunday

cliffnotes:
had to drop kmember
left header sucks *** to install
right header sucks *** to install
bbk and slp doesnt like to fit up right
bbk sucks at fittment
ripped 02 sensor wires
car was dead after it was done
first spin - exhaust rubed.

Did you ever notice that every-single time someone puts up a post about a header install, it is soo dam painful to read? And then we seem to forget for a while and then BAM another thread a few months later.

You should hear Deans horror story when he did his.

I paid 200 shipped overnight for my bbk shorties. I wasnt going to spend 500 bucks more for 15 hp.

I have an slp xpipe, if I got long tubes, it had to be SLP, or modify my exhaust. So it was shorties and midpipe, or nothing.

Sounds like your throttle response is 100% better now. The before sounds really good, But the after you can tell it's breathing a lot easier. Dam now I want some headers. (And I do know your pain installing them). Went through it with my 79 Z-28 And I had a ton of room to put them in they still don't fit just right. Had to heat some header tubes up and reshape them to get clearance around the small stuff. But ain't nothing like that header sound man.

shorties = most pointless 2v mod ever...
they're actually harder to install than longtubes, it's retarded
and they won't make crap for power compared to LT's
