I HATE when people sell things on ebay or on car websites and post pix from the Ford Website or something else...it's so trashy and a bad way to do business, just be honest...

Unless you took the Cobra badge off the front it's a GT or V6. Cobras come with the Cobra badge.

This is a common hoax. If i were you, I would consider calling the FBI in the morning. This is HIGHLY illegal.

One of my best friends got involved in a scam like this last year. What they do is break into people acounts and post offers like this for cars they do not own. Then when someone offers to buy, the plot changes. usually, they want you to wire the money to an escrow company. The company name resembles an actual company, but is in reality a company owned by the seller.

Often times these guys has a legitimate reason for listing the car cheap. Such as, that they got transferred to a foreign country and it is stock in customs costing them $500 a day, so they have to sell it right away.

Or, they are going through a bad divorce and wants to sell it really cheap.

Rule #1: If it looks to good to be true it probably is.

When my friend was interviewed by the FBI, they said that this culprit will generally list the car 20 - 30 places and wait until he/she has 5 - 6 takers. The, runs off will all the money. Fortunately, my bud sniffed this out. He happens to be the VP for an MIS department for a large company and was able to track down the entire guys computer links.

The escrow company server was from someone's stolen account too. He reported everything in this case to the FBI and Ebay.

This stuff is really common.

Another scam is someone PMing or emailing you to buys parts for them and then ship oversees. They will ask you to buy something like $500 worth of stuff, and then tell you that someone will give you $6,000. The person with the money just so happens to owe the Buyer. You are then asked to keep $1000 and then forward the other $5,000.

These people roam around sites like this and look for possible takers.

Be ware.
