Default Should we post street racing vids?

Ok, I know we are all divided on wether or not street racing is ok. Most of the sensible ones here will say NO. street racing is not good and is illegal. But people are still gonna take their respective rides and challenge others. And some will take their video cameras to film it. I dont condone street racing at all. I may step my stang up a notch when conditions are right. But i rarely make it past the 70 or 80 mph mark on a 4 lane street. I am actually scared to speed on the streets for fear of a ticket. Do you think posting vids of these street racers is ok? Or is this just pissing more people off. I like watching these cobras and stangs flying through the streets. Streetfire.net has some pretty good vids of some sweet cars doing their thing on the open roads. I mean even if you saw it in person you would still watch them right?.

Keep the vids coming or not?

I would prefer that we did not, but I think this is a catch-22. It is like ****...where do you draw the line? In some cases, it is clearly a street race, in other cases, you can't really say that. Also, a lot of the vids show people doing really stupid stuff and it generally turns into a discussion talking about how stupid people are. In some cases, the vids do more to help prevent street racing then to encourage it.

One thing that is definately not allowed is any direct discussions of setting up a particular street race.

"Hey, come one come all. Meet us at I-97 and I-84 at midnight friday"

That sort of stuff or members using the site for grudge street races between the two of them is not allowed.

To our members, don't be surprised to see if our position on this changes with time. a business is guided by a lot of things including legal issues.

I agree...if will allow to post videos like this its basically self incrimination to the fact that it is done and gives cos a reason to hate high powered cars on the street. Plus it's going to give immature drivers not naming names but I have a few on this forum that will want to carry a video camera in their cars and try to race every car they see on the street to see who has the better kill. WHICH IS NOT COOL AND NOT SAFE AT ALL. Not to sound like a bad egg I enjoy a little race here and there but the difference is i'm not looking for one. If your looking for one your begging for something to go wrong.

well so be it. If people are going to race, then they are fully aware of the consequences and deserve what they get. Even if they don't think about the consequences, they still get what they deserve. I admit, there are posted speed limits that the "law" "requires" drivers not to exceed, but I think it is a bit much to expect people with vehicles coming from the factory capable of the 140s & 150s to keep them that low all the time. I don't understand why everyone is so uptight about posting the vids. Hey, it happens, just accept it. I've been known to speed every once in a while and am fully aware that if I get a ticket then I deserve it. It is all the uptights that end up causing most of the wrecks because they want to go either right at or even below speed limits. Let's face it. It is a facepaced world today, where time is money, so its going to be natural for people to do things faster, including driving. I don't understand the mindset that everyone has for protecting everyone else. If people watch videos of streetracing and then decide to go do it, then let them do it, and if they get hurt, so be it. It's their problem. If you're the one going slow getting caught up in what they're doing, either get over in the righthand, "slow," lane like the driver's handbook tells you to do, or take the rock out from under your accelerator and get the hell out of the way. If a person can't control their vehicle, then they shouldn't be driving anyway. Any vehicle I have been in has been comfortable up to at least 80, but where I am at, most people get scared at about 60 it seems. All I got to say is, if you see me on the freeway, get outta the way....and also, bring on the vids!

I agree. if you don't want to watch them then don't click on em. I'll be posting some more stangs doing their thing. I love to watch a cobra rippin up the street. Plus they sound great too.

Now imagine that we dont allow street racing videos posted, and if a large number of Message boards didn't aloud street racing videos, Then people wouldn't care about videotaping themselves racing because its not like you can really show a bunch of people. Now im not saying there isn't peoiple that still do it, because streetfire is filled with them. But it helps reduce the amount of people who race.
well i mean, it is just a difference of opinion i guess. as far as the showoffs, i like seeing people doing stupid things. you know its like "look at that idiot. what is he thinking lol." And if they get themselves hurt, then its even better ["AH HA" -Nelson, The Simpsons]. I'm not so much into protecting others from things like that. Everyone needs to take responsibility for their own actions. I could get into a big debate over things with this same concept, but this isn't the place for it, and I'm sure it would cause a big stir, so I want say anything, but I think that it is the mindset that we must protect others themselves is ridiculous. People have brains and the ABILITY to think about what they are doing before they do it. If they choose not to, then its their problem.
