Won 1st at local show
Like the title says....got first at a small local show in my category. Fords won all night for each category they had:
1929 Truck
2000 GT
2001 GT
2005 GT
and even a 1986 Capri 5.0
I actually tied with my friends 2005. Both of our 8 year old daughters were really excited. Met some nice people and some kit with an SRT-4 who's first words to me were "I beat a Mach-1 on the street". Before I could think I responded with something like "Must have been an old lady driving it, those things are mid-13 cars out of the box." I soon realized the conversation was going no where so I say "look, you have a nice car but street racing is not my cup of tea. There is always someone with a faster car."
Then, as if reading from the script, a new Ferrari drives up and he starts to drool. I tell him to ask the driver if he wants to race. The Ferrari did not stick around. He was apparently too good for the rest of us.
One lesson I learned was to bring a list of mods so kids could read it instead of asking me all night long. The second lesson was kids with brand-new cars have no money left-over for mods (present company excluded-LOL) and they had no idea what I was talking about anyway.
Anyway, the show was fun. They do these things every week and I now get to advance to the finals in October. It is either the 24th or the 30th.
