The Liquor thread
Just wanted to see what everyone's go-to liquors are here. Whisk(e)ys, scotch, rum, etc. One of the things on my future to-do list is to expand my liquor selection because having a choice is much better than being stuck with the same thing. Not that I can afford it right now anyway, but may as well plan ahead.
Just got a handle of Jack from a friend as a payment for helping him put in a CV axle and change brake pads, but I'm wanting to get some fifths to have for myself. I pretty much stick to whiskeys, seldom go into Scotch and Rum and absolutely never vodka, wine, or tequila (unless it's the margaritas I make). Though I haven't had any, I heard Gentleman Jack is great and pretty smooth, so that's high on the list, as well as a fifth of Maker's Mark and Woodford Reserve. I most often mix with soda since nothing I've had before is particularly smooth, if it compliments a cigar it's a plus. I'd like to one day get the appropriate mixers/ingredients to make old-fashions and mint julips, because they are awesome.
So what do you guys drank? No beer discussion allowed.

I've tried Crown and it's alright, but it just seems like one of those "I drink this to look sophisticated" liquors. Plus it's..well, Canadian.

And now that we've strayed into the topic of beers (brewed right here in Florida)

Jager.
I used to love Patron but I drank an entire bottle of Silver, plus half a bottle of the gold **** in about 2.5 hours. Plus alot of beer. Puked everywhere, almost died. Can't even smell Patron anymore without feeling sick.

Only good tequila is 100% agave and clear. Patron is good but waaaay overpriced imo. Beer is my more or less go to with michelob golden light (midwest thing). If its a hard night its Jim Beam-Coke (I expect a few WTFs on that one).
There is a hometown brewery here that i drink every once and a while called Fitger's. Leinenkugel's is another good beer out of wisconsin (only good thing).
For those nights i need a quick catch up after work before we go out i take Rumplemintz shots... yea i expect **** for that too...
Vodka=insta-puke thanks to my first 3 years of college

Steeda, you can't mix anything with tequila but more tequila. I know a lot of people that have been sick from tequila and say that they will never drink it again. The smell of equal parts punk and tequila is something that stays with you all your life. I feel the same about brown liquors, Jack Black and beefstew is still burned into my brain fom 35 yrs. ago.

Man, I'm with you on that one. I believe that **** is a by-product of the manufacture of jet fuel, the only other thing that even comes close to being that bad is Pepe Lopez.

crown, jack, makers mark all good choices. Sometimes some jim or johnny. I used to love rum..say captain, sailor jerry's (probably fav rum so far) or kings bay(dirt cheap!) but I far prefer a nice whiskey coke. Not much for drinking it straight up yet, but a strong drink sign me up.
I also drink lots of beer, when I go buy it I try to get myself to buy 6 packs of things I have never had to expand my horizons.
Don't really touch vodka unless I am sippin on my gf's drink, it tastes fine just fruity and surgary as hell usually.
Tequila...don julio shots or mix it in some margaritas.
Gin...if its just one of those nights that I am feeling adventurous with my alcohol, some gin and cranberry juice, sometimes a little bit of squirt mixed in makes a tasty drink.
as for the everclear comments...got too drunk once off it, puked...have since only used it to clean **** with, it is definitely jet fuel!

Never tried ever clear, my favorite moment with it though was watching a girl polish a bottle off (approx. 2-2.5 shots worth) tossing the bottle on the table and blowing on the guy next to her that she had a $20 bet with she couldnt do it, he proceeded to run to the bathroom and throw up.

Imma have to say.... ****** YUCK!!! If i had to drink makers mark, i'd just soon not even drink... As for rum, HANDS DOWN... Sailor Jerry's!!! If you ain't tried it, you MUST! Good 80 proof spiced rum. Plus... its gotta sailor on the label! GO NAVY! LOL *shameless plug* sorry hehe

I drink Blue Moon and other blonde Hefewiezens. I also got a taste for Sierra-Nevada during the family bbq meets. Not real big on the micro brew ales. Guiness for the nights I skipped a meal and want to feel full but not raging drunk.
Liquor is more of an infrequent drink for me but I go with redbull vodkas and Patron silver shots.

another random drink to try is a corona limona. Drink the neck of a corona beer, pour in Bacardi limona back to where the neck was, gently tip upside down to mix, and drink. Adds a fruity/citrus taste to the beer like lime does but obviously lemon flavored. Gets you drunk 2x as fast.
