Did this with my 2007 build last december. Worked for another month before video card really took a ****. No picture or sound or 3 lights. Bought an Elite to replace it last January.

300 dollar 360 > x amount $'s for computer. Seems logical to me, no?

no. The xbox is cheaper, but doesnt work as well, or last as long and cant do half the stuff a well equipped pc can do.

bang for the buck for videogames only...ok, xbox wins that.

Do what he said! The reason why xbox's RROD is because the clips that hold the processors heatsink on weaken over time and dont hold enough pressure. That will fix the problem.

 

I fixed it. Didn't need a kit..just some bolts, washers, some thermal compound and a couple tools. easy money. works perfectly.

 

Well you can do that as well, but the kit comes with a bracket that goes on the back of the PCB so it wont flex and possibly break, just like desktop pcs.

 

PS3. I had an xbox for idk 3 years, turned it into microsoft literally 7 times to get a new one because of constant errors, though i never got the RROD. Got tired of the bullshit and traded it in for a PS3 right before the slim 360s were annouced and got over 600$ for it. Got a ps3 now, and havent had a single issue for over a year or so. knock on wood. I havent had a single error out of the ps3, however the only downside is the controllers and the community.

 

I did this and over tightned. Picture was real fuzzy and eventually stopped working all together, haha.

I find that highly unlikely.

 

PS3 online is also free. Another nice bonus. If I were a console gamer, that's definitely the direction I would go.

However... PC > all.

 

Its free because no one plays on there lol. I only have a PS3 because of God of War, and Killzone. Otherwise it just sits there as my 360 blows dust on it all day playing COD.

Not all the time. Mine got declined the first time.

 

My son has been through 3 X-box 360's. Last one was 2 yrs ago. Seems they got it fixed now?? He doesn't even have it sitting on spacers and the extra POS fans you can buy for them.

As for me. I'm all about the PC, or the Wii.. But I only do Racing on my PC or Golf on the Wii. Sometimes I might play some Wii resort with the ole lady.. But she gets mad and I don't let anyone win....

I bought the xbox slim 250 gb last week on new egg. Got a bad *** deal. 2 games, a headset and 1 month free of xbox live for 299.99, no taxes. I still love ps3 slim though.
