Default Valentines Day is BS

Anyone else feel this way? I seriously feel that Valentines day is a fabricated holiday for the female agenda, just to put guys through ****. I've been with my girl for almost nine years, and never really cared for Valentines day. I'm not romantic or gushy, or care much for girl things. Nothing is wrong in our relationship, I just don't see why so much emphasis is put on this day for bullcrap.

If i am in a relationship I always tell her that I can get her random surprises throughout the year (random stuff) or valentines day. They always choose the first, I would much rather go on a date on a day where everywhere isnt packed...

I agree. Valentines day is a crock of old ****. Like most other BS made up **** days to get Joe Public shamed into parting with cash for trash.
A piece of cardboard with hearts and **** on it for £3 or go the full hog and try for a ride with a padded one. If you don`t buy one you don`t love her. Thats what they believe. Well **** that. i`d rather give her the money in exchange for sex. I thought Valentines was for people you want to jump not ones you`ve been seeing for years?
and while I`m at it Christmas and new year is **** as well. Season of good will my hole. Wishing family members a happy new year that wouldnt ******* speak half the time. My sister married a ******** why the **** should I buy him a present? In laws and so on you cant be fucked with its a ******* joke. The wifes sister coming round out of the ******* blue with some cheap wrapped up pieces of **** to make you feel guilty. Well not me. The **** goes straight in the bin. Its probably **** that was given to them last year and re wrapped.
To make matters worse the wife will say "Oh I better get them something". **** em!
Anyway, valentines. Bollocks. ram it in yer ****.

I could go either way, this particular valentines day me and the wife had a really nice time at a nice place listening live jazz eating sushi and drinking wine.

I probably could have done it on another night but I see it as a night to really pull out all the stops.

I completely agree, but then again I dislike all Holidays. I think they're a lame excuse. It's like we need a Holiday to push us to do stuff.

True love doesn't need a day to prove it. If you're in love candy, flowers, and romance should be a regular thing, not once a year.

I was going to buy the stang new tires for Valentines day, but then I remembered I'm broke. lol

I don't mind Valentines day. All my friends, and most people in general, seem to hate it. idk... just doesn't borther me. There are plenty of other far worse problems in this world than a lame holiday and crowded parking.

HA HA.. I made out like a Rat eatin cheese this year. My wife and I both said Happy V day to each other. Sunday. Then she took me to sams club, and we bought $200 worth of meat for my freezer stock up... Steaks, ribs, chicken, and plus a bunch of snacks for Daytona this weekend.. On Monday she went to get flowers that were delivered to her cooworker and walked through the factory floor telling everyone, Yes these are mine, from my husband.. I didn't spend a dime.. We both had laugh, and she got to tote some flowers around for everyone to see.

After 19 years being married to your soulmate, You don't actually have to be buy love anymore. She has free reign to the bank account, and she did take advantage of that..

so she got a very nice birthstone ring she wanted.. And I got a case of beer, and cookout food for the upcoming warm weather... happily married says me...

100% agreed zig. Geez the price of a dozen fcking long stem roses is crazy. Plus they'll die in a week or 2. If your woman thinks just because you didn't buy these for her you don't care, then she's living in a fantasy world. Great for starting a love affair, but not necessary when you've established your relationship. That's the same for any holiday that requires gift giving. It aint really a big deal.. Case in point:

During Christmas holidays our whole extended family agreed to No More gift exchanges for any adult.. Only the kids get gifts. Invites for Dinner from each of us alternating is enough to say happy this or happy that.. But we all do love to see the children get the presents they deserve, just for being our children...

If I want something for my B-day I'll buy it myself.. Just don't bitch at me cause I bought a new Weber gas grill, that was on sale at Home Depot.. ( I did that last year). LOL It's sweet too...

You guys are right, we as Americans are caught up in that "marketing bullshit" thats shoved down our throats everyday. Buy this, buy that to prove your love. If you have to buy love then it ain't love. If you are in a relationship based on how much stuff you buy each other, then you need to bailout now before you go broke or have Bill Gates' money. I'm not saying never buy her nothing, I'm just saying that a "materialistic" person will always be just that!

Love should be simple and everlasting.

Families should get together just because they are family.

Agree with everything said. I don't mind buying the girlfriend gifts, we makes lists of items we want and give it to the other. I get some good ****. She want's dumb crap, I bought her a backpack, that is a picnic dinner set, like plates, wine holder, glasses, all kinds of stuff. Hell, I'll grab a subway sandwich and throw it in a backpack when we go bike riding, done. I guess my car parts can seem the same to her.

It's the "If you don't buy me stuff, you don't love me." that pisses me off. She doesn't do it often, but she thinks that becuase we've been together for nine years in April, and haven't proposed, that I don't want to marry her or love her. The fact is, we're in out early twenties, who the hell wants to get married and all the crap that comes along with it, debt. Kids come right after marriage, and neither of us want kids any time soon. Almost all of my friends that have gotten married, have divorced, with kids, married again, and a bunch of BS. I hate how all the Holidays are marketed to the hilt, I really felt like this was true this past Christmas.

Since someone brought up that guys don't get any kind of speical Holiday or whatever. It made me realize that here for Snowboarding, girls get a HUGE Discounts on lots of stuff. Like for example, every Tuesday Night it's Ladies night $15 off or something for a Lift Ticket. Guys don't get ****, but having to pay full price for EVERYTHING. haha *******!!!!

Welcome to equal rights! But that is an entirely different conversation.
When they like it = chivalry
when they don't = sexist

I think there is a mystique about ski lodges in general. Maybe it came from hollywood films about it. Guys like to ski, girls too, but not like hardcore snowboarders or skiers.

Women think of "Ski Lodge" and some mystical romantic thing goes on in there head. Warm fireplaces, pretty snow, alcohol,, Lol, Mood has been set for romance.

Guys want to ski, then get drunk, then romance. Perfect weekend.. So Ski lodges amp up the ratio of sexes by offering discounts to get the female count up, which in turn also brings the male count up.. Win, Win for the Ski lodge,

Actually it's the same for beaches, and just about any bar you go to.. Get the ladies there, and the men will follow.. Funny how that works...

I mean I understand if it was on the weekend and what not, but this is durning the week. My First/Last 5 times of going there, there was triple the amount of girls then guys. Also where this is, there isn't a Lodge. Hell I don't even think their is a fire place in the bar or the food place.

I just think it's false for this place, because there seems to always be more girls then guys. Whether it's Ladies night or not. But I completely understand.

Maybe this place is geared at getting the women in. And sometimes, well, it just kinda seems like some women have no problem with hooking up with other women.. ( Geeez here I go). Maybe it's just my internet burned out mind, but it seems like to me... Ok I'm just gonna STFU. I can see the big hole I'm digging... But anyway Maybe they figure it's worth the extra $'s for men to pay. If they gave dudes a discount and not women??? That would seems a little bit Gaaa... Ok again i'm done. trying not offend....

I'm not offended, but what about for those who are married, couples and the gay people or the ones who want to be around girls.

Can't us guys have a guys night at Snowboarding/Skiing?
I mean I completely understanding where they're coming from and what you guys are saying, but hell. There should be at least a guys night out for once, having fun, partying it up and just sherrding the place. Kind of like when us guys have a guys only night out.

Haha, bikersk8erkid, get use to it. Ladies night, or ladies get in free and whatnot is everywhere. Bars do it all the time cause they want more women in there. Do you really want to go into a bar and have the guy to girl ration be like 5 to 1? No, you want more chicks. If you want a guys night then get some friend and go out, but don't be gay and cry about it. Most dudes don't want to be around just all dudes while they're out. Just sayin. And how did this come about anyways when this was about valentines day? Did you want to hang out with dudes on valentines day? haha

I am used to it, I wasn't really complaining about it, nor really do care. I just wanted to know why they do that. Down here, we don't really have ladies night at the bars or at least around here. Plus I don't go to the bar anyways. If I'm taken, why would I care about the girls? I'm not crying about it either, otherwise I wouldn't go. Do you have something againest gay people? A LOT of guys like to have a guys night out, even more on the mountain away from the girls and just have fun. **** no I don't want to hang out with dudes, I hardly get along with them. LMAO It came up because someone said something about guys not having any kind of Holiday or whatever.
