What are they for? Look pretty nicely sized. I'm not proficient enough to know the bullet size by look.

zombie apocalypse or target practice, whichever comes first. they are 9mm.

Lazerred6 08-09-2010 04:40 AM

I have always felt that the 9mm is very underrated when it comes to zombies. People tend to favor shotguns for their close range power. however the average 9mm has decent ammo capacity and the accuracy (with a good marksman) results in almost no wasted rounds.

Leonide 08-09-2010 10:32 AM

whoa, 9 mill? the picture was awesome untill i found out they were 9 mil. now, it's cool. serious downgrade. i don't like 9 mill that much, cause it has no punch. it's a pussyround. i would use 9 mil in a sub-machine gun or something, but a 9 mill handgun is a wet noodle.

i've been around 9 mill for 6 years. they sucked before, they suck now, they will always suck. but hey, that is a lot of ammo. what gun are those rounds going into?

whitestang04 08-09-2010 11:45 AM

Nice now go shoot it all and buy more :D BTW have a picked up a holster for that new G26?

Here is my 9mm (Sig 239)

So are you saying that you wouldn't mind being shot with one? :p

you sir, are an idiot. If I shot you center mass with just one of my 9mm defense rounds...you'd be fucking toast. Get real bro.

whitestang: Yep, got a Comp tac MTAC IWB.

Hate to say it, but i gotta agree. You get shot with just about any caliber round besides a .22 your most likely gunna lose. However if someone pulls a .38 just stand still, theyll never hit you. (My old mans .38 special is so unbelievable un-accurate.

You sir are an idiot...lol. Every gun is more accurate than the person shooting it. But thanks for agreeing with me.

I counted 1100  my eyes hurt

Tape 08-10-2010 07:04 AM

BLazE, I think your correct but I'll not counting again............

99MustangGT 08-10-2010 07:08 AM

He's right, just multiplying the rows is a lot easier than counting every single cartridge.

lol, you know nothing about the reasoning about shooting someone  in a gunfight I'd rather have a 9mm on the streets over a .45, but rather have a .45 in a warzone situation. My reasoning is I can shoot you 3-4 times with a 9 before you get off your 2nd shot with a .45.

r3dn3ck 08-10-2010 07:18 AM

How many of you have actually been shot? I have. Twice. .22lr and .38sp.

The .22 hit me in the front of my left calf and came to rest pressing against the skin on the back. It felt like I was on fire on the inside and like someone had just hit me as hard as they could with a ball peen hammer.

The .38special impacted a steel plate 6" in front of me, cleved itself in half against the top edge and the piece that went over the top just grazed my right hip. It took out a small hunk of meat and chipped the crest of my pelvic bone. Felt like someone hit me with a burning sledge hammer, and that was just a grazing hit.

As probably the only person here who's taken a bullet (much less two), I can tell you the 9mm is a wuss. So is a .45acp and a .40s&w and a .357sig and a 10mm and anything else you could reasonably shoot from an auto pistol (with the exception of say a Desert Eagle or LAR Grizzly or a Wildey). They all hurt REALLY bad and they all kill people but they're all PISTOL ammo. They're designed to be a last line of defense. Nothing more. If you want a properly lethal round that stops crooks dead in their tracks, 12ga or any high powered rifle (.223, .308, 7.62x39, .444marlin, .300win).

Now also as the only person who's likely taken a bullet, I can also say that in the face of retaliation from a 9mm I'd back the fuck away and quit doing what I was doing. It may suck as a battlefield round but it does fine work at poking holes in bad guys.

That is dead wrong and will someday net you some nasty trouble.

On the streets you'd want the .45 (because they don't make a .46). Anyone who has been properly trained knows that you shoot till the threat has stopped being a threat and you use as big a gun as you can reliably shoot accurately. You shoot as few shots as are necessary to deal with the threat and save the rest for the next target. You don't go out with something small because you think you can hose the bad guy with fast accurate fire before he gets a "2nd" shot off. You CAN'T. In a gunfight most shooting is done without any sort of sight picture so toss that accurate aimed volume of 9mm fire right out the fuckin window and get realistic. You MIGHT MAYBE get 1 shot of aimed fire before the situation degrades into a melee of cover seeking and gunfire. After that you're at the mercy of your skills and training.

2nd, any idiot who's been properly trained with their .45 can shoot it just as fast and accurately as they can a 9mm. Silly boy. Go take a class.

And there is no "reasoning" to being in a gunfight. There are tactics, strategies and dying. Not much room for reason or logic as those are based on deeper thought than simple crisis survival.

If you don't know shit, don't say shit.

Valid reasons for using a 9mm over a .45 include proficiency, cost, recoil, concealment, ammunition availability, weapon size, weight. Valid reasons do not include spraying bullets around the landscape hoping for a lucky if not random incapacitating hit on an attacker.

I carry whatever is appropriate to the occasion. Sometimes that's a .32auto. Sometimes it's a 10mm auto. Sometimes it's a .44mag. More often than not, it's a .45acp or a .357mag.

In Nam we used the .223, why do you think? because it takes 3-4 soldiers to take care of a 1 hurt soldier. I'm done, with an idiot like you we shouldn't be allowed to CCW.

Wow, and here we go.

If the world was coming to an end, and there was one person from this board that I would take shelter with, it would be r3d. Don't assume you know anything about him or his vast knowledge on guns.

Love that. Comparing military combat operations to a street fight with a pistol. Jeebus. How off base. Hey I know, I'll compare apple trees and orange smoothies.

BTW, a .223 is a VERY effective stopper. That's why the military converted to it. Lower recoil, lighter ammo, inexpensive components and MASSIVE trauma and huge wounds due to the hydrostatic forces as well as high velocity bullet yaw and subsequent fragmentation. A much cheaper round that caused very lethal wounds over a modest range and which was capable of becoming more devastating as a CQB round.

You don't have to take my word for it. The FBI, DOD, DOI, LAPD, SFPD, and a million other agencies have all run independent reviews and studies of cartridge effectiveness and all have found the .223 to be particularly lethal. Hell even the Soviets converted to a similar round because of how lethal it was (ever hear of 5.45x39?).

You can impune my argument all you want, but calling people (especially me) names gets you banned. Have a fun 3 day break bud.

r3dn3ck 08-10-2010 08:18 AM

Tape has been banned for 3 days for being a little insulting bitch.

You're all free to argue with people but you must be respectful. Especially of mods and admins.
