Do you have any radio stations that are friendly to local bands? We have a couple down here. Try calling around and seeing if any of them accept demos from local bands, and if they will play them. A few of my dad's bands that he used to be in received airplay that way.

We got a couple plays out twoards ashland,, but this area is almost strictly country,, and if u go twoards a bigger city like lexington it turns to rap and hip hop..

But alot of the skaters here like that hardcore stuff.

I personally like doing blink182 stuff, punk style.. It's very difficult to get out there.

I'm not sure how radio friendly ocarina's and flutes are, especially playing Blink 182 stuff. haha

wow. A metal-head cop. Never thought Id see the day. Theres so much talent in that genre its ridiculous. I cant even keep up with all the ******* upcoming groups (Volumes is a damn good example of talent). Dont really get much new **** from the pop singers. They still just play the same old **** on the radio, and most of the time its some douche who won american idol.

Haha, im not worried about it. I'm content with who I am and theres nothing to hide. I don't conform to social norms, I just do what I like.

But still blinks awesome! Theres tons of songs highschool and college kids relate to. Nobody pays attention to lyrical value anymore.

I do.

There is almost nothing quite as satisfying as a perfectly executed song, meaning a song that has both music and lyrics that speak to you and have meaning. When you listen to it, you can relate to it and think 'damn, I love this song'. There are too many "bands", "groups" and "singers" today that just throw words together and they don't mean a damn thing and that's where the mindless people come in. If a song has a good beat, that's it for them and where beats make up, words fail.

For me, if the lyrics aren't there, I can't do it. I've got to be able to understand what I'm listening to, both in lyrical and musical terms. If not, the entire concept of that particular song melts away.

I knew you were like that val! I got a music sense about you! I look for that too! I'm so sick of things like Pa pa pa poker face... stuff like that.

But american idol isnt like a social norm, alot of people watch it, but they want to see somebody mess up or get yelled at by simon. I just like hearing songs i know be arranged differently.

The crazy thing about that chick is that she is actually a halfway decent singer (and a pretty damn good piano player), but seems to make no effort to prove that on CD yet she has been more successful sounding like ****..? Figure that out.

Nowdays all you need to do to make a hit song is;

A. Be a ******- i.e. Adam Lambert.
B. Be as slutty as possible.
C. Use pitch correction.

I think thats pretty much it.

I've actually seen pitch correction in action, its pretty amazing stuff, but if your soo horrible, it cant help you. I've been to a studio to record a couple songs and it was pretty cool, but my singer isnt the greatest so it would screech sometimes.

He is right here, same thing with autotune. If the singer is teriible it multiplies how bad it sounds, but as long as you are decent it works fine

Actually, that stuff is made for shitty singers. You think Tpain can really sing? Or that Kesha bitch? And its not amazing. Plus you can change it up with autotune and make yourself sound like anyone else out there using it in their music.

Im not saying they sing well, just that they must not be completely terrible because it doesnt work right when someone is just a horrific singer

Autotune was ruined as soon as rap got a hold of it.

Thankfully, I have no ******* clue what any of you are talking about. If I heard those songs, my brain cells would probably die... and I don't want that to happen.

Yeah, Matt is pretty ******* awesome! In fact, Matt is such an awesome bad-***, that as mothers with infants walk by him, he rips the infants out of their strollers in broad daylight. He then devours them in the middle of the street while listening to Cannibal Corpse, while their mothers stare and scream with terror! And since he's a cop, he gets away with it!

This is true. Little babies dont stand a chance! Ironically, I seen Cannibal Corpse in concert at last year's Mayhem Fest in VA. They killed it.
