So tonight I made my first ever attempt at a dry martini

used 8 parts New Amsterdam gin and 1 part dry vermouth

shook 'er up..and she's pretty damn good for a first try

I'm sure i would be like the drunk teen, I'd guzzle about six of them like I do beer, did the same thing the last time I drank tequila. 6 shots chased with a cold beer after drinking beer all day. I don't drink liquor no more.. LOL...

lol. i have had 1 martini. not sure if i like them yet. I really like manhattans, that is a mans drink. haha.

i need to/started to cut back on how much i drink lately. 1 reason is because i am trying to lose weight and beer is the first thing to go really. another is it takes me about 10 beers to even start feeling a buzz; or like 4 shots back to back.

if you like your gin, try a Tom Collins. my friend and i played fifa and drank tom colins and they really fucked with our heads... his night end with him making out with some ugly chick. lol.

and when i drink gin, i only buy Tanqueray 10. It owns all, but expensive, especially for a college student.

oh, fishy..pixorban.

Hate to poke a hole in ur bubble, but if you dont eat while you drink you wont gain weight. Theres almost no fat in beer, the reason you get fat while drinking is because of the crap you eat while ur drunk. Or atleast thats what recent studies say.

nice work with the martini! I can't do gin do to a bad experience in high school, but I love a dirty vodka martini.....A little olive juice can make all the difference.

that is true to an extent. but if you consume A LOT OF BEER, those calories are not all going to be burned. so if you consume 10 beers, thats alomst 1000 calories, and factor in you NORMAL food intake. it adds up in the end. its not all about the fat content, you gotta take into account of the calories too. cause if the calories are not burnt, they turn into fat.

liquid calories are one of the biggest contributors to gaining weight...why do you think they tell people to cut soda and alcohol to lose fat? you know.. beer belly..

If you want to get serious and have a really dry martini skip the vermouth, use Bombay Sapphire Gin and a perfect twist of lemon peal.
Pure refreshment but not for novices

I had an Irish car bomb on St Pattys day. My first sip of alcohol this year. Only had one.

Can o Guinness in a glass
One shot of Bailey's Irish Creme
One shot of Irish whiskey

Pour shot of whiskey in glass of Guinness
Pour shot of Bailey's in glass
Drink fast or the Bailey's gets weird.

yum.

I also like the Amsterdam Gin.

I make mine extra dirty.

I have been making mine this way for about 2 years now:

2 ice cubes in the shaker

Roughly 4 oz. of gin

1 tablespoon vermouth

2 tablespoons olive juice

3 olives

Shake it all together about 10 times

Strain it in the glass and stab the olives with a toothpick and drop them in

I like the small olives...not the big ones.
