And really? Pictures of.. bottles of oil, and him dumping the shit in there. Thats it. It WAS basically a shameless plug.

Says the guy that totaled his car while he was drunk. See just because I don't post all the time doesn't mean I don't come here.

I'm not sure that I like the 0w20 yet though.. I can hear the valves moving a lot more than I could before, but it may just be the fact that they are able to open and close easier, who knows.

How is it? What'd you use before? Should i switch?? I run royal purple now.

PColav6 03-09-2010 12:40 PM

I use whatever is on sale at the time at autozone, lol. It's a Mustang, not a finely tuned low tolerance performance machine.

But I would have to agree, it does seem like everytime you actually post on here its like look guys, my site made it into a magazine or something.

Congrats on changing your oil though.

Yeah I do that so often. Welcome to 2 years ago. Why don't you look back through my post history and see how often I post something about my site.

I didn't say often. But isn't 2 years about the amount of time you start coming back around and posting?

Slither 03-09-2010 01:14 PM

Nope...my posting has pretty much been at the same consistency since I started my site 4 years ago. I post throughout the year skipping a month or 2 sometimes. But I am here several times a week reading.

I used Mobil 1 before, I think the main benefit of Amsoil is without a doubt the filter. They are far and away superior in design to any other filter on the market. This is the post on SMR, take a look for yourself. http://www.silvermustangs.com/forum/...p?f=155&t=9539

I haven't decided just yet on the 0w20, the engine runs super smooth, but like I said I'm just not sure about being able to hear the valves as much as I can. I'm thinking at this point that I'm going to use it for a couple of weeks and if I can't stand it anymore then I will switch to 0w30 or 5w30.

Royal purple is supposed to have a new filter on the market that is comparable to the Amsoil filter, but I couldn't find it anywhere.. Not even from their own web site.

My dad has used Amsoil in his Dodge Ram with their Bypass system and it still runs like brand new with over 200k miles. It just passed emissions with more than flying colors, I mean it was unbelievable, just as good as a brand new truck.

Leonide 03-09-2010 05:15 PM

hmm, might have to run the oil filter in my car. i stick to synthetic blend in my mustang. no reason to go super-expensive royal purple, or Amsoil. might get their filter, but that's it.

mustangV6_04 03-09-2010 05:15 PM

The cost of amsoil is a pretty penny but when I get it for free from my job I can't say no. But the way I look at it is why not spend an extra few bucks for something that you know out performs in many ways over other brands and a little piece of mind. I run amsoil throughout my car, oil, diff, trans, and to no complaints. Can't really say it has any noticable benifits to economy or performance but for the extra protection what the hell. It's protecting an investment.

I do need to change my tranny and rear end fluid again. I need to put in some better stuff to help with the MPG on the highway.

Let me know if the MPG goes up for you at all.

Idk..I didn't ask for it.. but ended up with Royal Purple in the read end and... I think Lucas Semi Synthetic Transmission fluid...

(My transmission shouldn't count though, as it was a POS.)

Nothing noticable at all... But stay away from royal purple gear oil I've heard it's not so good

I'm running Amsoil Gear oil + Friction mod. in the rear and it's great. No whine at all and runs extremely smooth.

I don't think that any oil will give you any significant gain in MPG, but better wear.. Possibly.

I dunno I never had an issue with it. No whining and no breaking....

I used it, it was fine.

You used RP in the rear end? I thought you just used the synchromax in the trans?

I noticed a significant difference from whatever gear oil was in the car when I switched over to Amsoil, it is much, much more quiet now with practically no whine at all.

Yeah, I do the same thing with my toyota. Pretty convenient!

zigzagg321 03-10-2010 09:45 PM

I piss in my toyota's crankcase, transmission, AND differentials... I dont need no stinking oil.

fucking mustangs needing oil...

krenogin 03-10-2010 09:59 PM

my buddy drove his s10 with a blowed headgasket and antifreeze in the oil,, looks like a big milkshake...

And whoever mentioned 5w30 in a 4.6... i dont think thats a good idea... i seen a mach 1 with 26k miles spin a main bearing running 10w30.. almost positive it was due to the increase in oil pressure.

If I remember correctly, on my old 01 GT (Evan's car), written on the oil filler cap, was a recommended oil weight of 5w30.

The 4.6 takes 5w30. I'm going to run 10w30 in the summer months because the ambient temps will be 110-115 daily.

Don't be TOO concerned with that. Here thats what the temps normally are and I believe my friend (who has had both a vortech and a turbo and ran them at the track during the summer months) continued to use 5w30.

Black Sunshine 03-11-2010 07:38 AM

My '05 takes 5w20. Lucky me, since I never drive the bitch, I won't have to do another oil change for quite a while. :)

5w20 is what is recommended for 99-04 as well. Although Voretech says in their manual to use 5w30. I believe I've been using 5w20, but when I first got the car, I was using 10w30 and it was fine. Krenogin please do a little research or something before you post inaccurate things. I know thats your forte, but use a little common sense.

5w20..

Hence the reason why I went with 0w20 because I'm not worried about sub-zero temps.

Even if you don't drive it, you still need to change it every 6 months - year. Even Amsoil recommends changing it Once a year regardless of how little it's driven.

I know. I plan to have it changed once a year.

spike_africa 03-11-2010 04:19 PM

I LOL at the crazy oil change intervals people do. I would have no problem doing 25k once a year changes with amsoil. Even though I do the same thing already with Mobil 1.

Its 5w20 for the 2v.
