PS3 Games?

PS3 Games?
Ok, here is the deal. I didn't realize this until a few days ago but I have some money saved up on my gamestop card. I have enough to get one game ($65) and don't know what to get.
I am kind of picky but not when it comes to games. I don't like games that I can simply go through in a few hours or games that have to be played online. My PS3 is not online (I only hook it up for updates and or DLC). I hate playing online because the few experiences I had both times someone decided to be a ***** and either disconnect or screw my game up - so I don't play anymore online.
I was considering Dirt 2 but after finding out there is no customization and there really is no options for your cars - it knocked it out of the possibility of me getting it.
Here are my preferences for games:
Graphics have to be what a PS3 is capable of - I borrowed a game from a buddy awhile back and the graphics were like a PS1, gameplay has to be great, has to be challenging and have a high replay value. (I hate games that I play through and then end up trading off because they don't have anything else to do.
I normally don't buy games when they come out because of the expense and if they end up being s***** then I loose money. I also know that when a game comes out and then within a few months looses value and decreases in price then it is probably one that is going to suck.
Here are a few I was thinking of (In no order):
Killzone 2 - I know it has single player but does it have single player where you can setup the custom match like in the first one? - I seen this and it looked awesome - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roc27ujMycs
Operation Flashpoint - see link below
http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/Prod...oduct_id=72875
Tiger Woods PGA 2009 - Not really a Golf fan but thought it looked decent and different.
Was considering - Midnight Club LA: Complete edition but heard it was a bust. I was also considdering something like Fallout 3 but its kind of one of those games I know I wouldn't get into.
Suggest some games and if you have played one do like a pro and con thing if you have time.
Thanks.

What type of games do you like? Your preferences didn't really state what you like. Basically you want something with good graphics? The graphics are good on most of the games, but it depends if you like shooters, racing, adventure, role playing, what?

if you want games that wont get you bored w/o playing online you wont find any. they all get old after a while. (except for GTA4 i never get bored of just messing arround)
but my advice if you want to play a new game and you dont know if its worth it just rent it.
i just rented NEED FOR SPEED SHIFT i know it will only take like a week to beat it (playing 2 hrs a day) after that the online racing is worthless.
so i can just return it after i had fun with it.

the tiger woods game is good but i think theres a new one out for 2010, i played the 09 one and its pretty good, graphics are excellent like in all games put out by EA Sports, but i mean all games do get boring unless you play online, online is just fun and a challenge to see where you skills are at in video games, for me a play madden alot cuz im a sports guy, but that me, but i would rent a couple see what u like and then maybe decide from there, dont think you can wrong with renting. anybody else play madden online?

As far as games go I am not really picky as I said before but I do have a picky mind when it comes to games.
Here are some types of games I like - FPS, Sports, Racing and Action/Adventure - (but limited).
As far as each type of game goes here is what I usually look for.
FPS or Combat game - has to be a game that is realistic and focus in on game skill rather than a run and shoot or just destroying things. COD4 was just ok for me. I beat it way to fast even on the harder difficulties, then all I was left with was the option of either going online or playing my friends when they come over. The game was way too short. My friends have told me I wouldn't enjoy Killzone 2 much because its a run and shoot and the game this time around was more based on the idea of the multiplayer - after the single player campaign. I know most don't even play the single player and go right into the multiplayer.
As far as Killzone goes I have heard a lot of good things and the fact that there is a ton of DLC for it and the fact that it is really a skill oriented game from the reviews I have seen it is based more off of skill because if you try to run and blast your way through you won't make it.
For sports game there is really only one sport (it should be my religion) and I have the games (NCAA College Football 09/10).
I am not ruling out Tiger Woods PGA 2009 though (its cheaper than 10 with pretty much the same feature and the feature of its a golf sim but easier to play). I do like Golf - the reason I am not a huge fan, well, frankly I suck and it has detured me from trying such a game - I figure if I can't play in real life I won't be able to in the game. Although, with 09 I heard that it basically teaches you and has in-game tools so that its not so damn hard to play. I have seen several reviews on this game as well and even non-golfers enjoy it. It has beautiful graphics, very decent and adjusting gameplay and a good replay value. Its kind of like football games no-one pass or swing will be the same there for it has great re-playability.
Racing games, don't even get me started. The crap that they have been dishing out sucks. No options very little if any mods can be done to the car and its more like a demo derby than a racing title. I have been looking at Midnight Club LA - the new one that just come out with the DLC added. It looks like NFS sort of but I heard the customization depth is 10x what NFS even thought of. NFS Prostreet and Undercover were bust and they should have not wasted the developement money.
Sorry, I don't know if this will help but this is one of those things that is hard to explain.
Thanks for the help though

Get Killzone 2. You won't be disappointed. It's the most realistic feeling FPS out there. The graphics are outstanding. The game is CHALLENGING. I've only played it on Veteran from the beggining, and I still havn't beaten it. I got it last Feberuary. I don't play it non-stop though, but holy hell the game is hard. You need to think of a new strategy for every skirmish you get into. It's far from run and shoot style gameplay. You need to use your surroundings wisely, or else you're fucked. Taking cover is a must, and finding a way to flank the enemy is a must. Sounds easy, but it's far from it. The AI isn't stupid, rather, insanely smart. It has some replay value too, with trophies. So, get Killzone2. Or wait a few days for Uncharted 2.

I think I am definately going to get Killzone 2. I think I am also going to get Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 - its something different and one of my friends said it is absolutely awesome to play - challenging and very fun.
But I think Killzone 2 will be in the bag as far as getting it.

By realistic feeling, I'm talking about the controls and physics. Once you start up Killzone 2 for the first time and move your gun with the right stick, you instantly go, "woah, it feels heavy like I'm actually holding a gun." Unlike COD where guns have no wait. There's other things too, but I dont want to get into detail, just play the game for yourself and you'll see what I mean.

Very nice trade. Sorry don't know much about the other games other than the MAG game is supposed to be a MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online). It looks cool but I don't like the online stuff.

i just swapped my PS3 in for a new one. I origionally got a used 40gig from gamestop, but it froze up on me a couple times. So it was under 30 days so i added an extra 70 bucks, swapped it in and got one of the 120gig $299 PS3 Slims. Man, they are WAY smaller. Plus it actually has real BUTTONS instead of that sketchy finger heat detection switches.
Get this. I wanted to keep my saved game progress, so i used a USB cable between my Nikon D90 DSLR camera and plugged it into the USB port, i was able to transferr the saved game data to the D90's memory card before i traded it in, then dumped the saved game data into the new PS3.
lolz

I am Playing MSG4 right now. I Love it. Great game. Only problem i have is the cut scenes last forever..... Seriously they are pretty long. but the game is sick. I was not sure i was gonna like it at first. I like that the Silencers dont last forever.... and all the guns you can upgrade and stuff.
