Question Court today

As many of you will remember, my husband and I got drag racing tickets back in June, we finally got our initial day in court today.

It didn't start well, as our lawyer was out of town on a family emergency and we ended up with "Doogie Howser" attorney at law. He was young, eager and nervous as hell. But he tried real hard.

He was able to get the officer to down grade the ticket to speeding 54 in a 45, which we weren't doing. I was not going to take it, I want my day in court with a jury. But my husband and the attorney said it would be the best and cheapest option since we are leaving soon. So I caved.

We get in front of the judge and present our plea, and surprise surprise....he REJECTS it!!! Says it's too far to go down from drag racing.

We go back and discuss again with our lawyer our options, he says the judge wants a wreckless driving change. I absolutely in no uncertain terms will plea to that. So he decides to try and have the hearing reset to later in October when our regular attorney will be back.

We go in front of the judge for the third time, and explain our dilemma. The judge requests to speak to the officer, but he can't be found!!! One deputy states he thinks he maybe down stairs watching some videos.

The judge becomes LIVID!!! He stops for 3 seconds, collects his thoughts and tossess our paperwork across the desk and announces "CONNETT'S DISMISSED"!!!!

He then got up and went to his chambers, where I feel certain he began chewing on some one's back side.

We left the court room at light speed!!

Some days your the windshield, some days your the bug!!

So. You're case was dismissed? No ticket or anything?? Dam good deal there, if so. That's the way they do a lot of traffic court around here, Judges hate when things don't go smoothly on either side.. Glad it worked out in your favor..

So you really got off scott-free, or just have to go back at a later date? If thats the end of it then I couldn't even imagine the weight thats been lifted off your shoulders.

That's the end of it!! No more court dates, no more anything. And yes a huge weight was lifted. Now if we could just get our house sold.

LOL cop was watching videos..... priceless. Congratz on saving money and your driving record. I kinda figured that charge would be hard for the cop to testify to.
