with the 3.73 rear from the track pack good tires and a 400 hp motor I bet the 5.0s will see high 12s (I think the 5.0 is supposed to be lighter than the 4.6)

and if the v6 doesn't gain any weight I bet it will see high 13s considering the 3V's can hit 13's and they probably weigh more than the v6 is going to

 

Those 3 valves produce alot more torque then what the v6 will, I'm almost positive. And yea, high 12s with gears and tires, gotta figure 3valves do about that already.. low 13s atleast..

 

Thats the thing the 3v with 315 hp only has 325 ft lbs and that 3.7 does 274 hp and 276 ft lbs so if they manage to make it increase hp and tq in proportion you end up with like 315 hp 317 tq and on a lighter car that just might do it.

 

they best give the v6 an 8.8 with lsd

the good thing is that when the aftermarket companies jump on the new stangs like fat kids on cupcakes you will see bolt on GT's running mid 12's and bolt on v6s running mid 13's

 

unfortunatly that v6 won't see alot of power till it has the **** rev'ed out of it which I didn't consider the 3V's have it way earlier in the rpm range so that will hold the 6's back a bit so low 14's is probably more likely...... but faster than the camaro

Its just an opinion, sometimes its a good thing to give an opinion before someone gets ready to throw 6-10 grand at their car.. maybe they didn't think everything through all the way, ect..

But hey, people buy GT500s Ford GTs Corvettes ect, over powered for NORMAL USE, but having fun on the backroads is cool, whatever. Its also fun to show your friends ect...

With that off my chest, im curious how the new 5.0 will sound,, the old 5.0 is tooo mellow, 94-04 is nice and agressive, 3v sounds pretty nice, and 4v's sound amazing, almost rivals nascars when they hit that high redline, anyone got an idea? also whats the CI on the 5.0? is it gonna be a TRUE 5.0 instead of a 4.9 302?

I don't have any problem with Val, in fact I think that she is a great contributer to the forum, but she really needs to back off of the defensiveness. No one here is biting her head off because she doesn't take her car to the track, it just doesn't make much sense to me for her to put a blower on the car, that's it. I'm looking forward to seeing the Sixxers get some power, I'm not sure what that will do their bottom line, $$ wise, but I'm sure that Ford will do it in a way that will keep them fairly cheap because afterall, the V6 is the bread and butter of the Mustang line for Ford.

 

there are going to have some sweet chrome 19 inch wheels on the 2011. i saw them in person at my buddy's dad's office the other day. they kinda look like c6 z06 wheels with a little twist. too bad i didnt have my camera. dont know if that would have even been legal to post on the internet haha

 

Actually, I don't know anyone on here who opposes S/C-ing unless it's on a sixxer simply because it doesn't produce enough horsepower for the cost.

Search how many threads have been started over "I think I'm getting a Procharger or KB" and you'll see all of us drooling over it.

I don't see why Val's idea needed to be challenged. Sure it may not hit a track, but hell mine might not be either with school and work and research job.

But ****, I still throw every spare dollar I can at it to make it the meanest street-beast I can and exactly what I want it to be.




On a side note, I WILL be doing a 5.0 swap, rather it's an MMR 302 Block or the "Coyote". Depends on whether these people try to **** you over just because they know EVERYONE is going to want one.

I have a feeling buying an 05-10 GT and doing a forged MMR/Saleen 302 swap will still come out cheaper than a 2011....idk. Ford is in the best shape, but they also aren't known for doing what "logically" they should. Hell the damn GT500 was priced at 60k, when it REALISTICALLY should've been 45-50k MAX. Just because it was the last "SVT Cobra" bullshit.

I think Ford's going to prosper off of the 5.0 being brought back and everyone wanting one. You have to realize Chevy NEEDED the Camaro to survive. Ford only WANTED the 5.0 or else it would've come sooner.

They sold a lot of pre-orders, but I have no clue how the sales are going now.

 

They're actually selling pretty damn well right now. They're not at mustang selling rate (overall), but high enough for them to be getting a steady flow of cash in from it.

I am not one of those people that tell you that I think you should 'get a V8'. You did what you wanted to do with your V6 because you had a goal. I'm guessing you did it because you have certain goal in mind at the track, and also because it makes you happy. You aren't hurting anyone or anything. You're doing what you had your mind set on. Nothing wrong with that at all.

It's not bad to question 'why'. I do that all the time. Especially at work and I get my *** in trouble. I didn't think that my response was all that horrible. I wasn't mad or upset, i was just irritated and I let it show. How is it wrong for me to let my feelings be known? Wrong just because some people didn't like what I said? I think not. That is the problem with this world today. People are afraid to defend themselves because they are afraid to offend others in the process. I am not one of those people.

As for the 'justification', I don't feel like I have to justify anything. It's not like I ran up and punched someone in the face and I have to make an excuse as to why I did it.


Same reason why people dish out money on body kits when they don't take their car to shows. Because they want to do it to make their car the way they want it to be. If you wanted to take a $100 bill out of your own money and wipe your *** with it, go for it. Your money, you have the right.

There are a lot of different goals for modifying cars. Some do it for track monsters, others do it for garage queens, some do it for the best of both worlds, etc. Every single time it is done, there is one thing in common, the people are doing what they want to have their perfect version of that car in their mind. Doesn't matter if anyone else likes or dislikes it.

You didn't get a reply because I usually don't post on the weekends. I do 99% of my posting at work during the week when we're slow and I'm finished or have a break in my work.
