What to do?
So I've had my tinted tail lights/headlights since last November and I have recently been getting pulled over by FHP a few times this month and was told to order new tail lights. Should I just order stock ones? I'm not a fan of many aftermarket tail lights. The blackouts have been giving me too many tickets lately. They've started cracking down on tint like crazy around here.
I can snap off the covers on the headlights but I still plan on buying the AM smoked headlights if I keep my car.
BUT...
I looked at a '05 Windveil Blue GT this weekend and almost went for it. I want a manual this time though and it was auto. They were also closing and the car was just traded in and needed detail so I left so I could think about it.
After leaving the dealership, I passed a Mystichrome Cobra and I started thinking. If I was going to trade in my car for a newer GT, I could totally try and find a Cobra in my year instead. Of course I'm going to have to get insurance quotes which might be a deal breaker.
Suggestions? Ideas? Thoughts?

Get the cobra!!
And you're the only person I think that has gotten **** for tail light tint in Fl. lol. Maybe try the smoked tint? That's what I have and have never had a cop even mention it to me, even when my car was sitting sideways in the middle of the road with 6 cops behind it, not one word.

Get a Cobra if you can. I would check to see what your insurance would be first, of course...but if it's affordable, definitely snap one up (preferably not mystichrome because that color is butt ugly). And if you can't get a Cobra, windveil blue is definitely the color to go for with the S197s.

As far as the headlight covers go. I got them and driving at night is nearly impossible. they are just way to dark. Plus mine ended up getting warped and not fitting to well. I think the oem smoked headlights look good enough. As far as smoked taillights, they look great, but on a sunny day in traffic I want people behind me to see my brake lights. That is if you keep your stang. A Cobra your year will add more to insurance for sure. Even a Mach 1 will add to it. As far as the 05 GT, auto tranny is ok, kinda wish I had an auto sometimes. JMHO on all this. BTW your stang looks great. I would just get rid of the dark tinted lights. Stock lights don't look that bad..

Mystic is one of the coolest and most rare colors ever produced on any production vehicle, period. The only sucky thing about Mystics is the seat inserts, that is kind of crappy looking, but that's an easy enough fix.
Windveil is one of the worst colors that Ford has ever produced, right next to baby **** green.
Anyway.. If you can afford a Terminator and all of the expense that comes with owning one, you'd be much better to go that route, but I think I'd look for a Mach, personally.. Then again, there are '05/06 GT's going in the $15k+/- range with mid-miles and that would be tempting.

You definitely just lost like 500 cool points with me.

heck my color is more rare than mystic, only ever on 1 year of cobra(2001) (mystic had two years 96 and 04) there are only 600 true blues and far more mystics.
it is a very cool color though. I would definitely get a manual with whatever you get, otherwise you will regret it(luckily cobras only come 5/6spds). Additionally do upgrade, it is way worth it if you can afford it.

wrong...lol. Mystic was actually one of the higher produced colors of cobras (3rd place for 2004) Comp. Orange Verts for 04 cobras there are only 72 and only 281 coupes, I think they made something like 1010 mystic cobras total.

BTW. 96 and 04 are different versions of Mystic. '96 was just "Mystic" and '04 was "Mystichrome." The original paint in the '96 was far too expensive because it included a variant of green that is used to produce US currency. Also, the Mystichrome has a color variant blue/purple/green/black and the '96 was only blue/purple/green.

How would my statement be wrong when saying it was "one of the most rare." I didn't say it was the rarest of them all..... Slow down and read a little bud.

A Mach has crossed my mind as well. I couldn't rule that out as an option. That's what lured me in about the '05/06 GTs. I am scared I will really miss my body style even though I really love the S197s. I have had a manual '01 as well so I'm attached to this body. You really think Windveil blue is that hideous? I dig it! I agree with you on that hideous green color though. It looks like a booger.
The only reason why I would stay away from an 05+ is because driving that car compared to a New Edge feels like going from a Miata to a Cadillac. The hood distance is something really strange and hard to get used to. I drive my fiance's '05 sixxer quite a bit so I'm speaking from experience.
BUT... The 3v's (05+) respond to mods really well, especially compared to the 2v New Edge GT's and have shown the potential to actually be a better powerplant than the '03/04 Cobras.. With some work.
I'd have more fun building up a Mach or a new(er) GT, then having a Cobra.

so yeah 03/04 gets my vote again.

I can't stand Windveil, especially in stock form. They were trying for that mid 60's/70's color and missed it pretty bad. I would personally look for a Sonic/ Vista blue or Redfire GT... JM2C.

for instant bolt on/tune power the 03/04 cobra's can't be beat by the 3v's. However in ONE test, that tried to minimize as many variables as possible(exhaust, compression, intakes, etc) the 3v on 20psi out did the 03/04 motor; but it took I would say an easy 5k+ to make it come to the level that the 03/04 is from the factory.
so yeah 03/04 gets my vote again.

Thanks for your input guys! Appreciate it. Let's see if I can get in one now! I might be posting a few that I've found soon to see what you all think.
