I hope it sounds cool

I think this is the smae engine that I heard rumors of a year or 2 ago. Back then it was referred to as a "modular" 5.0, and I think it was supposed to be put into the all new Taurus and or Falcon to start off with.

I also THINK that this is the same engine that Ford Racing donated to Chip Foose and Overhaulin show. Not too long ago Overhaulin did a old mustang (think it was a '70) on the show and a guy from FRPP showed up and was telling all about Fords "new" 5.0 power plant.

Either way. . . . it looks cool as hell. 400 HP will rock too! Though it will probably get to the street with about 350-360 RWHP by the time you account for the driveline eating a few of those ponies!

Lazerred6 05-19-2009 06:35 AM

From the things that I have been reading it looks like it could be a 32v and have an aluminum block

Edit: I hope they do use it to replace the 5.4 in the f150 and the 4.6 cause the more vehicles they put it in the more aftermarket stuff will come out for it quickly

spike_africa 05-19-2009 06:55 AM

I'm all for a larger more powerful modular motor in the mustangs and F150s.

That will put it over 400hp to the crank.

Sweeeeet!

00blkstanggt 05-19-2009 09:13 AM

Did anyone click on the link to the new Ferarri Enzo II? That thing is going to be badass. Most likely twin turbo V8 and weight close to 2200lbs.

whitestang04 05-19-2009 09:28 AM

How sick would it be if Mustangs GT's got a 32 valve 5.0L. That would be a hell of an upgrade from the the 2/3 valve 4.6s :)

Are you going back in time to do that?

JackThe Ripper 05-19-2009 03:01 PM

Supposede M.P.H will make a Mongoose setup for the new Ford Mustang Cobra when it has a Coyote engine?

Weasle, horse, snake, dog.

WTF

edit.. how come every time i type M.P.H without the periods these stupid forums change it to "miles per hour"

PistonsFan102 05-19-2009 03:05 PM

ford racing has offered a 5.0 liter overhead cam modular for quite awhile now, whats the difference between a 5.0 cammer and a 5.0 coyote??? if its the same thing im not gonna be incredibley impressed like i was when i first heard about the 5.0 cammer a few months back :dunno:

Leonide 05-19-2009 08:59 PM

The new F150's, etc., are supposedly getting the 6.2L Boss (Hurricane) engine shortly after they come out. An article I read a while back said that was the engine that will be replacing the 5.4. However, they make no mention of it in that article..

08mustang_gt 05-20-2009 10:27 PM

The 5.0 put in the stangs will not be a 32v I can almost guarantee it. The engineers from dad's work said that it was still going to be a 3v set-up for the base GTs with a good set of heads and a metal intake (not funky plastic like mine) that will push it out to 400hp at the crank. The GT500s will have a more built version of the motor named something else that will have a complete different bottom end for the addition of the s/c.

I told you guys a long time ago that's what ford was going to do. It just takes time. The 5.0 will hopefully offset the power difference between the stang and the other modern makeovers without upseting the price.

I haven't heard that, but I also heard they were getting the ecoboost engine. 3.5L TT 375ish hp

audikillsbmw 05-21-2009 05:13 AM

If you look up the story about the upcoming SVT Raptor, you can read about the 6.2L Boss engine. They said it won't be available right away, but it should be an option shortly after that truck is launched. They also said it should eventually be an option for normal F150's as well. Who knows which source is right though :p

Lets hope the price doesn't go up. Right now a 2010 Mustang GT is sitting pretty at my local dealership for 33K.

look up Boss 6.2 on google. I saw a couple threads on various Ford truck forums talking about the 6.2L being put on hold and the manufacturing plant told to stop production. This was an old post from last year when gas prices were so high.

So the new 5.0 might just get used for the F150's or at least we can hope.

Leonide 05-21-2009 01:22 PM

new motor + new body style = 40K price with dealer markup.

i'd rather keep my current car and buy an OEM 5.0 boss if i wanted to. much cheaper.

Dang, $33k! Although I'm not suprised cause the other day i decided to build one on the Ford site with all the goodies and it was about that price.
