This confirms my earlier suspicions that you are an idiot. I'll venture to say that neither you nor your friend have any experience driving an older GTO to even compare it to the new one. The only thing the old GTO's had on the new ones was torque. If your friend does have experience driving an older one, he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.


Reason why I say that is because when I had my GTO, my father drove it and was incredibly impressed by it. My father was born in 1958 and grew up during the bad-***-muscle-car era and he personally had a 1969 GTO. He said, and so did one of his brothers who owned a 1967 GTO that the 2005 would torture and kill the old GTO's.

It sounded beautiful just stock. I totally agree with you about not liking the way they look. They are not ugly cars by any means, but they just look so ordinary. What they lack in looks, they make up for in power. I used to love how unsuspecting my Goat was. I'd be sitting at a light and hear some ricer rev up and I'd just smile and get ready to stomp it.

 

Not so much as a very expensive car to have but the time to build it.

I was never really impressed with the goats. They are decently quick, but they are not that fast. And like you said the looks are just really plain.

On the other hand I'm not a GM guy at all and the new CTS V is fantastic if you ask me.

My sisters dad had a 300 zx that just sat in the garage at her house cause he was supposed to give it to her...but she didnt know how to drive a standard. It was pretty nice. I came so close to driving it, haha. But then he gave it to my cousin and pissed my sister off so bad, and shortly after that my cousin got t-boned and fucked up the fender...so it sits once more.

Anyways, born and raised in south detroit.

 

I would love to drive a new Pontiac G8. My neighbor had one but I never got to see him drive it. Then he moved. As far as to 04/ 06 GTO's, they are very nice to look at if you appreciate a GTO in general. Same with the Trans Am's and Camaros before they stopped production. They were great looking a would run just as good as any american stock car would. But my choice would have to be an 05 or 06 GTO, Just because they look good IMHO. And with an LS1 or an LS2 motor, You can't even say they are slouches in performance. The only thing that kept me from getting an 04 GTO was the price. They shoulda kept building them and selling them for under 30 grand.. But I'm also glad I didn't get an 04 because the 05's and 06's stepped it up in peformance, and I would have been pissed.
