i got a job at UPS unloading trucks and airplanes at orlando intl airport.. for 9.50 an hour and FULL BENEFITS. this saves my mom over 400 a month for medical, dental, life insurance and shit.... i also get gauranteed more hours and UPS promotes within a lot so..

Switch 02-08-2009 08:51 PM

Awesome! Anything's better than the grocery store. I hated working at Albertsons.

SeanStang 02-08-2009 08:55 PM

Awesome man, Ups is a good company to work for. The drivers that come to my warehouse have offered me a position at their warehouse a couple of times but its so far from where I live. They pay awesome, but they put your ass to work and have some weird hours.

mustangV6_04 02-08-2009 08:58 PM

they have amazing pay and retirement if you stick with it. My friends dad drives truck for ups and brings home well over 100k a year.

Stephen4036 02-08-2009 08:58 PM

yea orlando has warehouse positions but ill work my way upto that, i cant wait till unload AEROPLANES BITCHES! talk about wrecking a mustang, what if i crashed a 747

Good thing you aren't driving :p

SeanStang 02-08-2009 09:04 PM

Lmao, you'll just be unloading the airplanes not fucking flying them. The Ups guy thats picks up/drops off at my work makes $80k. Hes in his late 20s or early 30s. Went to work for them straight out of highschool. I actually considered going that route. But decided going to school would open up even more options. Im just still unsure of what the hell I wanna do.

Slim03GT 02-08-2009 09:05 PM

Glad to hear. "Yobs" are scarce these days. Congratz.

Yet...like he said, they promote a lot within the company. My brother used to work for UPS, it's a cool opportunity.

Stephen4036 02-08-2009 09:29 PM

its bad enough i wreck a mustang, last thing i need to do is wreck a truck full of shit and they have NO DOORS!!! SCARY!!!

How the fuck a UPS delivery driver is making more than people that have masters degrees is beyond me.

b/c people ship shit.

Good yob Stephen, unloading at the airport seems alot more interesting than bagging groceries. The possibilities of promotion means alot too. More mod money.

Because UPS is a monster company and makes alot of money and you have to work for them forever to get into a truck position in order to make any money.

I worked the warehouse there for a week and quit. They only paid me $8.50 and it was hard ass labor, not worth it to me. I went back to detailing cars and making my own hours and having more money. That was like 4 years ago or something.

stanger00 02-09-2009 08:19 AM

LOL...i worked at UPS loading and unloading "feeder" trucks. that job sucked ass i quit after 2 weeks. this was back in 2002 i was gettin paid 8.75 a hour and over worked. i was pullin 8 hour days with no lunch!! fuck them. i went to work at IN-N-OUT burger where i got the same wage better hours and less work.

looks like spike had the same feelings as me.

00blkstanggt 02-09-2009 08:55 AM

Remind me to never order something thats shipped with UPS and that has to go through Orlando. I may never see the package again once Stefan gets his hands on it. $9.50 is not a whole lot of money.

Steeda97 02-09-2009 09:29 AM

9.50 is pretty good for a kid in school.

wtf, where?

SnTBakosFinest 02-09-2009 06:32 PM

Congrats. You gotta figure that money + full benefits..most benefits packages are between 10-15 dollars more.

There are horror stories everywhere about working for such and such company or trade or whatever, you just gotta figure it out for yourself, for some it works, others it doesn't.

Beats the hell out of working in a retail or grocery store, or in a resturaunt in a kitchen..

mustangrn 02-09-2009 07:06 PM

Congrats!! I know way too many people that are unemployed right now. It's good to hear of some one getting not only a job, but an upgraded one. Good Luck!

At 18 $45k is damn good, but with that said $45K in California really isn't that much, and making $9.50 in most parts of California will get you a 1 bedroom apartment, but you better not have any other bills or want cable tv.

The day I can find somewhere that will transfer my California salary out of state is the day I'll probably be out of here.

When I was a senior in college there were kids who were soph and juniors working in Silcon Valley making $100k+ and they had a freaking year or two left of college. They probably fell on their ass once the dot com bust happened, but damn.
