Finally decided to kick the habit

Started smoking about 3 years ago, the last two being a pack a day of marlboro reds. It's been 12 hours since I've had a cigarette. Hopefully it was my last.

Lances03SVT 11-15-2008 02:19 AM

Good luck Bro!

Word. Except for me it's only one tire since my car has a broken dick, lawl.

Hookah is just as bad if not worse than smoking cigarettes, stephen.

Indeed, it can be if you make a habit of it. I used to smoke, quit a few months back, but I hadn't been smoking for as long.
When you smoke hookah, you usually go to one of those bars where you are exposed to it for long periods of time, hours even. Whereas when they are at a club, they go outside for 5 or so minutes and have a cigarette, then they are done. Just don't make a habit of it and don't be putting any wacky tobacky in there! lol

King 11-15-2008 09:10 AM

I'm allergic to nicotine, so I couldn't really smoke much even if I wanted to.

Badfish 11-15-2008 09:47 AM

Thanks everyone. :)

and havokk, this is my first quit attempt.

Don't give up man, you will feel so much better after you fight it out of you.

mustangvsix 11-15-2008 09:55 AM

good luck man. I wish my room mates would quit, it's a horrible habit.

03gtmustang 11-15-2008 09:58 AM

The shisha I get has no tar and .5% nicotine.

Wombozi17 11-15-2008 10:14 AM

You can do it badfish! keep it up.

I smoke at friends houses like once or twice a month hookah

mustangrn 11-15-2008 01:37 PM

It's a tough habit to break. I smoked for over ten years and at my peak was up to 2 packs of cowboy killers a day. Considering I couldn't smoke at all around the aircraft, I was pretty much a chain smoker. I quit when I had my first son and he's fifteen now. I smoke once a year at an all woman retreat I attend with friends. But I still get cravings, it's a constant battle, but it can be done.

3.8for the win 11-15-2008 02:16 PM

good luck!!!

Badfish 11-15-2008 03:50 PM

thanks guys. its been about 27 hours...this is tough, but doable. For those of you that quit, when was the hardest part? Some have told me its the first 24 hrs, some have told me a few days in it gets tough.

King 11-15-2008 03:51 PM

One of my ex-managers tried quitting and it lasted about 3 or 4 days...so my guess would be sometime in that timeframe.

JackThe Ripper 11-15-2008 05:32 PM

you know an wasy way to get through the first day? The night before, get drunk, smoke 2-3 packs, and the next day the idea of a cig will make yer stomache turn

lol

The hardest part for me was after meals, driving (my car wouldn't start until I lit a cig) and of course when drinking. I pretty much quit drinking at the same time. Don't go out with your smoking friends when they take a smoke break, the temptation is awful.

I know several people who have used chantix to quit successfully. You only take it for a few weeks and it helps you get a jump on quiting. But it really depends on the side effects you get.

Good Luck:D

Badfish 11-16-2008 08:44 AM

Yeah, after meals is fuckin terrible! I was enjoying some chick fil a and I remebered I couldn't smoke afterward. I flipped out..lol.

44 hrs

98mustangv6 11-16-2008 01:03 PM

keep it going man!

01FR500 11-16-2008 08:27 PM

Good job on trying to quit. All it took for me to know that I would never smoke was watching my Grandfather suffer and die of lung cancer on a hospital bed. Everytime I see someone smoking I think about it, I won't touch a cigerette. I hope you can quit.

mustangvsix 11-21-2008 12:21 PM

Well man, you still going strong??

Badfish 11-21-2008 01:05 PM

fuck yeah! just hit exactly 7 days with out a single cigarette.
