New Rifle
Picked myself up a new rifle a few weeks back, got a Simmons scope mounted up and sighted in, very nice! She is a Remington 597 TechTarget. Which is a auto-loading 22LR with a Boyds laminate thumbhole stock in royal jacaranda, a silver receiver, weaver scope rail, and a carbon fiber dipped bull barrel.
Its really just a cool-as-hell rifle, and I do have my Father to thank. I was looking at getting a 22LR for target shooting and plinking because of their ease of use, accuracy, a of course, cost of shooting being next to nothing. (5-10 dollars for 100 rounds, who's complaining?)
I talked to him about the rifle, what he thought of it etc. Showed him a pic
And he didn't like the fact that it was synthetic, as all of his guns are very nice laminated wood and engraved etc. So he kicked me an extra 100 dollars to get the nicer stock, receiver, and barrel. Thanks Dad!

I did not at first either, and one cannot imagine there being a strength benefit, considering the barrel is made of steel hah. As it turns out it is used much the way bluing a rifle is, to prevent rust. It also looks cool =D
