Default Are we Effed

So I keep hearing people talking about the potential collapse of the american economy and **** hitting the fan sending us into a next generation dark age so to speak.

Now the people I'm hearing this stuff from are often fairly acurrate in their preditions about the economy and I would normal take their word as pretty close to what will happen (one is an economist/lawyer/invester worth over 20 mil) but I'm shaking my head saying your crazy now

his prediction is that if the government is not careful the countries that have money invested in us will eventually pull out when they realize our currency isn't worth anything once that happens buisnesses will go under left and right because they won't be able to pay their employees the result of that will be that less good will be produced and since our money will be worthless we can't import what we need. All while this is happening every imaginable type of crime will be increasing starting with petty theft home invasion and eventually wide spread looting the new currency will be guns, ammunition, food, clean water and drugs. Medicine will be hard to come by and you can only imagine all the reprocussions that will have.

all this will happen untill another county steps in to stop it.

Now for the record I don't beleive this is going to happen but I'm hoping some one will give me a better reason than mine.... my faith in humanity

Its happened before and it will happen again, I'm not worried about if we have a recession I will just work through it. I really don't believe our country will go belly up, but the news would love for you to believe it and watch more.

One of the fastest ways to get attention is to have credibility and start talking up sensational gloom & doom hyperbole.

i wonder if he has a book coming out that he is hoping to sell.

it all sounds too doomsday-ish...

Anytime something is going bad in the world, these ****** roaches some out of the woodwork waving thier credentials, spouting tales of depravity, doom, death, and the end of the world as we know it all in the efforts to get thier 15 minuts of fame in, so hopefully you buy thier new book which is suffering in sales.

as for worth 20 million, ****, Paris hilton wouldnt even bother bending down and picking 20 million dollars out of the gutter cause she doesent consider it worth it, if the alleged monetary value of a person lends any weight, then paris must be right, and these idiots are not worth listening to.

I shouldn't have mentiond how much he was worth the point I was making is this guy started off with almost nothing (single parent home in detroit) got a scholership went to law school started his own law firm and started investing in gold and then branched out to other buisnesses. He has nothing to do with the media and I don't think he writes much

what I'm trying to say is he is the most savy guy I know and he's worried so I'm looking for a reason not to be

edit for the record he is in his early to mid 50s

he is also not telling anyone who will listen or looking for fame

That sounds a bit extreme, the economy may take a **** or two but i dont think it will be that bad. Just my opinion.

I think we are in for some hard times, but we will get through it. For all these years we have spent like we were high on the hog, and now it has come back to hit us hard. From trying to find jobs that are worthy of paying for good people, and then gas at a reasonable price that consumers arent trying gouge you on.

I went to 5 gas stations on the way home last night to try and get gas until I just gave up and got gas at the little mom and pop store from the house that is about 20cents higher/gal but all others were sold out or only selling premium gas!
