Default Newb to MustangBoards

What up! I'm new to this forum...previousley used mightymustangs.net. I own a 2000 Mustang GT 4.6L V8. It has just over 17k miles and I'm getting ready to add an appearance to the outside. I just spent almost $700 bucks at americanmuscle.com which will give me a nice weekend project. I've already added a 6 speed viper transmission to the stang which took a very long time due to the customizing we had to do. It has alot of little things done to the motor...nothing to major unless the previous owner did something I dont know about.

If anyone happeneds to live around FE Warren AFB, WY (Cheyenne area) feel free to hit me up. I dont know many people out here yet...I just moved from Germany.

I wish I could have it done this weekend. I dont think my parts will get in till the end of next week sometime...hopefully. I'm not a very patient person and unfortunatley I think the military made me that way . The main thing I'm excited about is adding the links below only because my current lights suck and it's long overdue that I pay attention to those.

yeah I wasnt exactly sure how the 6 speed would turn out but I really love it so far. I would have to say it's prolly the best addition to the car.

Nice man! I prefer the smoked clear corner headlights to those though. What parts did you order?

I need to find not decent not good but excellent shocks and brakes now. Any ideas? The parts I'm adding will be linked below. Wish they could get here tomorrow .

I prolly wont start installing gears for a few weeks.

Also does anyone have any alternator ideas? I'm to friggin picky when I'm buying things so if someone could give me pros and cons to some different alternator brands that would be great....thx.

I think those are top of the line, but you could go with the FRPP Cobra brakes and be good there as well.
As for the gears - do you have a tuner or speedcal? If not, might consider one of the package deals, and when buying the gears regardless of the packages and if you're installing it or you've got someone doing it for you - get the bearing kit.

Also not a fan of the Dual Angel Eye lenses...It doesn't look good on 90% of Mustangs IMO

For your shocks, I don't know what's a popular choice for most Mustang'rs but I prefer Bilstein Shocks anyday.
http://www.americanmuscle.com/bilste...age-94-04.html

Might consider springs too...
http://www.americanmuscle.com/eibach...-04-coupe.html

Would love to give advice on the alternator, but I've never messed with one on the Stang, so I don't have anything important to add here.

Thanks for the tips. In about a month I may be getting a few more items on my wish list. Shocks and Struts is definately on my list for next up. For brakes, those do look pretty intising but I'm trying to stay away from purchasing brakes that have words on em unless it just has a pic of a pony, I know it doesn't make much sense but it's just a small pet peeve I have.

Eventually I'll be snatching up a new sound system which is why I was curious if anyone had ever replaced or upgraded alternators. The sound system wont be high tech but I'm almost sure a new alternator will have to come in to play with it as well. I have no idea the amps my alternator currently produces. I've taken it to AutoZone and they tell me they've never seen an alternator like it before and they cant hook it up to their machine. So, either they're friggin idiots or I just have a jurassic alternator.

They are friggin idiots. If im not mistaken, OEM alternators for our year are 130A.

But listen to me when I say this, you have a really really good looking car. Please do not put those angel eye projectors on there, if your anything like 90% of the mustang population, you'll end up hating them. Get a set of smoked clear corners and you'll be satisfied. The angel eyes are ricey, to say the least.

But to each his own.

Oh, that's interesting..lol, but in that case, Mach 1 brakes would work for you, they are basically the same as Cobra brakes.

And x3 on the angel eyes, just go with some smoked clear corners (AM's style). I think you already have clear corners on your car but the lenses on them aren't tinted. The ones AM sells are nice and dark and would flow great with a black car (see my sig, even though car's white you get the idea)

Well it seems like the verdict is dont buy angel eyes. I kinda already did though from americanmuscle. Anyone know if they'll swap out headlights? I guess I could just ask em. I do like em though....I think they would like alright but I'm also hearing from mulitple people it would be a bad idea. Hmmmm, lol I dont know.

Those look like pretty dang good brakes. Thanks for the option.

to be completely honest I can't stand the angel eye's and you've got a great looking car so I would avoid those. I've heard from many people that the lighting is worse than stock. Just my opinion but on headlights either stay stock or get the smoked ones. Overall if you like them thats all that matters since it is your car but thats my .02

If they haven't shipped yet you could probably PM AMNick and have you order changed.

yeah it's been shipped already...it clicked in my head after I posted earlier that it has already been shipped. I guess I'll go with them for now and if I end up not likeing them I'll sell em kinda cheap and go with the smoked style which do look decent and would look pretty cool on the stang. Only thing is...is that I hate going with items everyone has like the smoked lights. For some reason I've always went different then others so maybe I'll turn out to like them.....HOPEFULLY!!

Hope I didnt disappoint ya fellas.

anyways i gotta run and put the car under the over hang.... startin to rain.

Well, I'll tell you what you could do to make some smoked clear corners stand out from most other peoples', is to buy some HID lights and retrofit some projector inside the headlight housings. Some guys have done it with Audi projector units in the OEM housings and it looks pretty badass. Not to mention it's extremely functional
