For all you gamers...
I am planning on purchasing a gaming system by the end of the summer and I cant decide between the xbox 360 or PS3.
These are the pros and cons I have figured out on each of the systems and I still cant decide which one to get. I'm not concerned with backwards compatibly or even online play (well maybe a little)
Xbox 360
Pros: cheaper than ps3, plays acutual dvds
Cons: Not as reliable/freezes etc, You have to pay for online use.
PS3
Pros: more reliable, free online play
Cons: Only plays blue ray dvds, A tad more expensive
So to all the gamers which one would you recommend?

Xbox definitely. I used to be a hardcore playstation fan but unfortunately i feel sony really dropped the ball on this round of consoles. The ps3 has impressive hardware but nothing is being done with it. Also if you buy a whole year of online play for the 360 it works out to like 4 bucks a month, not too expensive.

xbox live is worth paying 4 imo. i was a playstation fanboy myself and i agree with codiddy i think because sony joined the next gen console game later than microsoft they kinda got **** on theres just not enough good ps3 only game titles to buy one unless you get MGS4. MGS4 is worth buying a ps3 for

i sold my ps3 for xbox 360. there are not many good games out for PS3.
also, if you base your choice on graphics, your retarded. base your choice on how many good games are out and to be released.

I was pissed though, it was the new 65nm chipset with the 175watt PSU and everything, still fucked up. Oh well.
That's a lie based on the fact that there's probably 40 hours worth of racing in the game..

the next batch of updated xbox's are going to have blue ray built into it. i read that somewhere i think

My elite that I bought 4/14/08 and was manufactured 2/1/08 (my bday..lol) got the RROD on july 23rd, sent that ****** off to best buy with the replacement plan to get a voucher to buy another...I didn't give them the controller, ethernet cable or headset, and of course kept the HDD. So I guess the bright side is I'll have a lot of free **** that I can sell.

Only reasons theres a million hours is becuase of endurance and all u have to do is hire 55% driver and leave it to drive.

i absolutely hate the gt games compared to forza. forza is more realistic. GT was nice for playstation and ps2 when gt4 came out.

Stephen, you are an idiot if you think we would believe you beat Forza 2 in 3 hours. Your just mad cause someone said hey PS3 is the best and you bought one just on that principle alone and now you realized how much it sucks, but your a Sony fanboy who would lick the CEOs *** if you could.
#20
That was just a rumor. Microsoft has no intention on putting a Blu Ray player in. They are looking at all digital downloads. 360 is the way to go. PS3 has less than a handfull of good games.

its physically impossible to beat forza 2 in three hours. thanks for trying.

wow, so much wrong information in these posts, makes me think you know less about gaming and consoles than you do about your cars :P
ok first off, i am and have been employed by Gamestop, Inc. for over 2 years. as far as just deciding whats better, xbox360 or ps3 is concerned, there isnt any one perfect answer. both systems are great for diffferent reasons. both have some great benefits, both have some major drawbacks. thing to make the decision on is YOUR individual playstyle and what suits YOUR needs.
PS3 is a great console, massive power, great frame rates, insane AI capabilities and is a VERY versatile system. Its biggest drawbacks are/were lack of solid titles, and online viability. when you actually sit down and price it, the bang for your buck, PS3 wins hands down. question is really are YOU gonna get your moneys worth outta it. are you going to even use it for its full potential, or do you just want to snipe people while playing Call of Duty 4??
Ps3 is suited for people who want a great gaming system, but want some versatility as well. 20, 60 gig systems (both discontinued for some time) are both backwards compatible with ps1 and ps2 games. new 80gig systems are as well, but might require a download to store the immulator on the hard disc for them to be. 40gig system plays ps1 (through downloads) but not ps2.
PS3 has a blue-ray dvd player built into it. it WILL play regular dvds as well. whoever said it doesnt is misinformed.
PS3 has gaming covered, built in internet browser, skype mobile capability, can have dvds, videos, pictures, music ripped to it from wireless network, or LAN/WAN, mem cards. and to top it off, thier online network is free to use. that being said, its slightly lacking, but they do have huge improvements coming to it in the very near future.
X-Box360, even the newer consoles still have some severe bugs. we warranty ALOT of 360s, however alot of it is due to user error/misuse. THE biggest reason to buy a 360 is online play. straight up, competetive online play. you get what you pay for, and Microsoft spends MILLIONS on xbox live to make sure it is THE online provider of choise for competetive multiplayer gaming. Games like COD:4, Halo3, RainbowSix:Vegas, Gears of War.... some of the sickest titles on the planet for multi-player online experiences. IF youre into first/third person shooters
Xbox360 does have more titles, but how many are really worth a crap? and how many are 360 exclusives? Also, theyve had 2 more years than the ps3 to develop games. of course they are going to have more titles.
360 does not, and will not ever be blue-ray compatible. Why? cuz Sony owns the right to it, since its thier technology. Toshiba was the HD-support for microsoft, which has since folded and given up on HD and recalled most thier HDplayers. so......unless microsoft licsenses the rights to use blue ray, which puts money in their competitors pockets, 360 is screwed for the HD movie market.
All in all, you need to ask yourself, do i want great online experiences with friends and family, or do i want raw power, high end graphics and versatility, but a more single player experience for gaming. they are both phenomenal systems for thier own reasons, question is really which is phenomenal for yours?? :P

well first of all, they licsense the rights to use the technology. but, im not positive on this, but i think Samsung is a subsidary of Sony. whether or not im correct about that, they basically just outsource the main component from the blue-ray player, then build around it. even though Sony developed it, the first ps3's had components to the blue-ray player that were outsourced. similar thing here.

Blu-ray is completely pointless unless you have a 1080p TV that runs 120hz frame rate. If you haven't seen blu-ray running on a TV like this then you have never truly seen what it's all about.
For the average person with average $$.. Meaning most of us still have TV's that run 480, 720p, 1080i, will never get any REAL use out of a blu-ray player because for our sets HD will still look just as good. And we will save money! $40 for a DVD.... Get that crap out of here.
360 Wins overall, great power more than is really needed. If you set the unit up properly and let it have plenty of free moving air you will never have any issues with overheating and Microsoft has plenty of great titles. Sony has lost a ton of $$ over the last year and I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see Microsoft buy them out soon.
PS: Stephen4036, You're a liar (as if we didn't already know that). It is physically impossible to beat Forza in 3 hours even with a "hired" driver. Also, Gran Turismo has sucked for the last two titles, other than having a bunch of cars the physics sucked and the graphics sucked even harder.

I bought a ps3 and I'm happy with it so far. I hate the the Xbox controllers and I've seen a few of them crash...so we just spent the extra 120$ and got a 3 year warranty with the ps3. There's plenty of games and more will come out with time. At the moment I have no use for Blu-ray, but considering you can't really find a Blu-ray player under 300$, paying 400$ for one + something I can play games on is a pretty good deal.

no way Xbox360 controllers for the win.

Best post i have ever read for determining a video game system. Funny thing is i can imagine my buddy jonny stating that word for word, and he is a manager at a gamestop
lol

lol..... you need to work on preventing your hands from running off and typing dumb **** before they check with yer brain first.
As for me, i got a 360 elite and it runs fine. I think my regular 360 ran bettwe with media center, but all in all the Xbox 360 does everything i want with the exception of one thing....
Tekken is only on the PS3.
DAMMIT
---WARNING this is where i get off topic and start gushing about this game
I am the tekken grand ******* master champion.
I can go years without playing that game and walk back into it, play a new version, and still school anyone.
When i was stationed in Japan i remember when tekken 3 came out, i hit up several of the tournaments and just dominated the hell out of anyone with anyone against anyone.
Best fighting game period. It is the most versatile, you can develop your own fighting techniques and not rely on preprogrammed ones, the counters are very fluid, and the whole gameplay really feels like a dance.
Fav chars are King and Nina. Both of them arte a lot of fun, and are about the most versatil, you can play deceptive, aggressive, defencive, however you want.
Brian and Paul are best for full out *** whipping, nto the best on defence but a lot of strings you can carry different directions to trip people up.
Yoshimitsu is the best to mess with people. a lot of his movements people find difficult to predict and track
Jin and Kazuya are also a lot of fun, so is Jun.
I played this game all the goddamn time, i still know half of the characters 10hit combos off the top of my head, but kings throw combos are the most fun.
anyways. yeah.
Ill whip anybodys *** in that game
and it sucks cause i dont have a PS3. But once in a while i run into somone with a PS3 and just **** em up 6 ways from sunday
lol
