=SnTBakosFinest;342609 All the middle easterners have to say is how much they are allowed to drill
Look you said somthing worth while I guess a even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once and a while. How much they are allowed to drill effects supply. Maybe if you took the time to understand you would see the one way or another supply and demand effects everything.

I'm all for drilling offshore for east and west coast, problem is it would take years to show any results. This wouldn't be a quick fix for gas prices as they would like the public to think. It could be 10 years before they even found enough oil to make an impact on our fuel prices. We should tap into our own reserves and let it flow now. Then we can play catchup later when they find the big honey hole thats out there in the big oceans..

well, not completly true.
if they struck oil tomorrow offshore, we could sea that oil in 2 to 3 years and just the fact that we have changed direction and started drilling in house would send a message to the middle east that we dont need them.
that could also drive down the price per barrel, as has happened in just the last few days

Then maybe you're a little too slow to understand that we'll never "get away" from the Saudis, considering they are "buddies" and they allow a shitload of oil to be drilled. As well as in Iraq, and a few other countries. The only one that actually hurts us at this point is Iran. Maybe if you took the time to speak to someone who knows a little more about it then what we do you would see that Bush's "drill here drill now pay less" is a bunch of bullshit.

As for "look you said something worth while" well, maybe if you were intelligent enough to research..everything I have had to say so far would be worthwhile.

Jack: I'm 100% for Nuclear Power..infact...two or three plants in California have just done some major upgrades to their facilities.

OH and...article on Big Oil by Malcolm Berko:

June 26, 2008

Dear Mr. Berko: Why has the price of oil has doubled in the past year? I would like to know if Big Oil (Chevron, BP, Exxon) are the culprits or if firms like Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, their traders and their hedge funds have fixed the market. And if they have, why doesn't Congress and the Commodities Futures Trading Commission step in?

P.S., Louisville, Ky.

Dear P.S.: ExxonMobil Corp. (XOM-$88.04) owns 29 billion barrels of proven reserves at an average cost of less than $5.50 a barrel. And at today's price of $130 a barrel, XOM's combined oil patches are worth a cool $3.8 trillion -- and that's trillion with a "T." Chevron has 9 billion barrels of reserves, Total SA owns 6 billion, Royal Dutch Shell has 3.5 billion, Conoco owns 4.1 billion and BP claims more than 10 billion barrels of oil. And at $130 a barrel that's a lot of trillions with a "T." For the first six months of 2008, the largest U.S. oil companies reported over $80 billion in net income.

America's failure to recognize that many in Congress have been tantalizingly enriched by those trillions exposes our epic gullibility. That sum of money owns a lot of votes in Congress and persuasively trumps most opposition. Wall Street is not without its consuming influences, either. Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, Lehman and J.P. Morgan are just more practiced and subtle than Big Oil lobbyists. And I believe it was Ronald Reagan who said, "When Big Oil, large banks and Wall Street inhale, the House and Senate exhale."

I have no proof that oil prices are being manipulated, but as James Whitcomb Riley said, "When I see a bird that walks like a duck and swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck."

Saudi Arabia insists that oil prices are manipulated by Wall Street traders and Henry Paulson (secretary of the treasury) says, "the rise in price is a consequence of supply and demand." Americans would really rather believe Washington than Saudi Arabia. A trader at Goldman Sachs boasted several months ago that: "we move the price of oil when we want to move the price of oil." I doubt there's a shortage of oil. I don't see lines of cars at the pumps, heating oil and diesel fuel seem plentiful, some United Arab Emirates countries are increasing production, Iraq's huge spigot is open again, Brazil announced a monumental discovery and world demand appears to be declining. So why did the price of oil double in the last 12 months then zoom $16 in less than 24 hours?

Well, money transcends friendship, loyalty and patriotism. Traders at Goldman, Morgan et al., firms that refuse to abide by trading limits, argue that "we're in the business of making money, not policy." The Commodity Futures Trading Commission created by Congress to "protect against fraud, manipulation and abusive trading practices," is a sham. Its five feckless commissioners are appointed by lobbyists and approved by the Senate to whom they owe their cushy sinecures.

Now in the first week of June, these CFTC toadies announced a series of measures to "bring greater sunshine" and "improve oversight to the energy futures market." Well it doesn't make much sense to close the barn door after the horse has left. But its common knowledge that we have the best congressional appointees that money can buy.

Now I can tell you why a stock rises in price. Either revenues increase, earnings improve, its dividend is raised, it discovers a pill to grow hair, the company becomes a takeover target, etc., ad nauseum. Those reasons are logical, explanatory and acceptable. I cannot offer a single compelling reason why the price of oil has doubled. But I can refer you to the still very secret Energy Task Force meeting at the White House, hosted by Dick Cheney on Feb. 14, 2001, attended only by Big Oil big executives.

Malcolm Berko, P.O. Box 1416, Boca Raton, FL 33429 or e-mail him at malber@comcast.net.

just no pleasing some people

I do know what Im taking about but I have my doubts about you, as anyone who has to copy n' paste someones else comments to make a point, well lets just say that shows there total lack of education about the subject, imo

seems your just a bitter person and that NO one could please you and your one-sided slant is a lauff but keep dreaming kaliforina-boy
WE will drill here, in shore and Off-shore, dispite what you an the other 20% of of the doubters think since Pres Bush has challenged congress to lift the ban on oil exploration here. 3 days ago the price per barrel has dropped @$15.00....

Hey, did anyone else sea the CNN interview wth Wolf Blitzer on ****, ummm sorry nancy Pelosi?
when asked about a recent gallup or Cnn pole, in which 73% of Americans today are in favor of Drilling Here, Now...she dismissed it and pretty much told the American public to "take a hike" as she would not allow this topic to even be raised in the house what an arrogant bitch, oh yeah and aint she from Kalifiorina too

Well considering that Malcolm Berko is considered a "financial guru" that post seems pretty relevant.

Also considering I have learned how drilling ect works through people who create ways for it to work... I believe my understanding is a hell of alot better then yours.

Your "73% of Americans think we should" **** is bogus. I'll believe it when its on a ballot and passes through with it, your television polls are biased bullshit.

We DO drill onshore and offshore you narrow sighted nimwit.. lol..the point of it all is is that you and the rest of your half brained buddies including your hero Dubya won't get their way.. especially in "Kalifornia" where ya know..everyone that lives close to the central coast has quite a bit of money, and when these drilling companies even talk about moving offshore rigs, they start buying the land up.. THAT has already happened.

If you're so stupid as to not listen to logical thinking..then thats on you man... but the facts are pretty well stated..

1) This has happened before
2) These major role players aka Merril Lynch ect do have a huge affect on what prices are
3) Oil companies themselves hold a huge affect on what prices are, considering they drill it, buy it from themselves, and price it.
4) Our oil dependency will not be abolished for atleast 20 years, if ever.
5) The Saudis want to play a good guy at this moment, you really think they'd **** with our oil? Lol..
6) We have bought loads of oil from Iran, we sanctioned them, we quit buying from them, theres another impact.
7. Do you really think people with god knows how many stocks in oil really care if its cheap or not? When each time the barrel goes up, the stocks jump up. Republican and Democrat alike, they have money in there, they are loving this.

You are more like a sponge, if anything, you watch what Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and whatever other channels are around, and soak it in, forgetting everything else.

If you want to say someone who quotes from people doesn't know what their talking about.. then I guess no one knows what they are talking about ...

Especially since you and I don't know how many others have basically reiterated what every right wing news anchor or station in general has already tried to say..

Congratulations, you fail. Thanks and goodnight.

So heres how this is going you believe everything the liberal left is saying because you are a hippy and we want to believe that action may at least help the problem a little and i'm still talking about Alaska **** California for now. I know the oil under ANWAR could not go into are tanks for at least 5 to 7 years if they drilled today. I support the idea of drilling there because

1. it doesn't hurt anyone
2. no one lives there to bitch about it
3. eventually we can buy that gas and it could help some

The "facts" that you state aren't all fact you call them that because you chose to beleive them but that doesn't make them fact this may help http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fact
you are calling the opinions of some liberals facts because you are to stupid to know the difference

I'm not claiming this drilling will work but it might an thats worth a shot as opposed to sitting on your thumb.

ive never understood why californians seem to think they know so much more than everyone else, and they that are so much smarter than everyone else.

this isnt a direct jab at anyone here, in fact, ill even say all present company excluded. But all i ever hear from california is how much more progressive, intelligent and over all better that they think they are from the rest of the USA.

Californians in general seem to only give 2 ***** about themselves, quite frankly if we need the oil enough you bet yer *** they are gonna see off shore drilling rigs, and aint a god damn thing george clooney can do about it.

Awwww.... im so sorry, you have an oil rig 10 miles of the coast you can somewhat make out, poor poor californians, being forced to actually put in a small sacrifice so the whole ******* nation doesent crumble into anarchy and chaos.

cesar milan and his dogs aint gonna be able to defend that chunk of real estate against mexico if the USA goes into another massive depression and economic crash.

Once again... all present company excluded.

These aren't by the liberal left, if you've noticed, I added Democrat and Republican..its a mutual game when it comes to money. These come from someone that I know personally and very closely and who has been in the business of oil for 20+ years and does business dialy with companies like ExxonMobil, Shell, ChevronTexaco, Big West, and the list continues.

We also have sites here, inland, that aren't being drilled because "It would be too risky/expensive to do"

Again like I have said in a few other topics, they are devoloping new ways of creating diesel and gasoline from the oil, it is 20x better then what is currently being used, and it will be built in Kern County, starting in November of this year. This should pump out something like 10 million plus barrels a day of gasoline and diesel..

And Jack, apparently we think we know all ect ect ect... but yet I have Randy and this other person down my neck like they are right? Lol... its a two sided deal bud, I don't know if you haven't figured it out yet or not..but everyone believes they are right..thats why they have opinions.

As far as progressive, in what ways? The development of new technologies? Or just putting them to use?

And congrats, the nation is already in chaos and is working on crumbling...whens the last time we've had an honest leader? Theres your first sign.

oh well, yeah everytime you get in a debate trust me the other guy knows yer an idiot, regardless to how big of an idiot he is. lol. I dont believe there is a clear right and wrong with politics, everything is just so convoluted anymore. Im not agreeing with everything you say, nor am i agreeing with everything others say. The california jab honestly had nothing to do with you.

As for progressive, i dont think california is any more progressive than the rest of the country, but they generally all do. Well, im not gonna say all californians fit that bill, but for the most part california reminds me of those dumb kids in college that are too concerned about some Holier-than-thou anti-deforestation cause in some remote island to spend time to de-louse thier own closet.

I think the entire cultural trend in california are based upon the belief that the entire purpose United States of America is to support california because it it is obviously the mecca and pinnacle of of advancement and civilization, and the rest of the county owes california a deep level of gratitude for allowing us to bask in thier superb awesomeness.

ive been saying that forever. You get the choice between a brick of ****, and a ball of ****. And evidentally, it doesent really matter who the hell you vote for because having the most americans vote for you doesent mean you win, and if that isnt a fundamentally fucked up voting process then i dont know what is.

The electoral voting mechanism was implemented in a time where there were people who were representing the people who were too remote to have a full idea of who the canidates were. Now everyone has the internet, so why do we have the electoral process?

another reason i think this countys government needs a serious overhaul.

but yeah anyways, i say we drill in the US, the oil wont alst forever, but i think steps have to be taken in national interested to drill our own energy and instead of spending all this time and money on the bitching and squabbling over those maniacs in the middle east that we devote all that time, money, and energy to remove ourselves from coal and oil.

every rooftop could be a source of power. The grid has already been laid out, all we gotta do is generate instead of consume, while solar rooftops wont solve everything, it will make one hell of a difference, especially if you can get a car that will charge up and run 60 miles off its batterys charged by the sun before the gasoline hybrid engine kicks in.

your the idiot, the demand for oil is practically constant. Supply and demand does not work the same for a good that is a necessity. People will buy gas until they are actually losing money from driving to work, people cannot just say "oh, gas is $5 a gallon im not going to drive to work today". Why dont you take more than just an introductory econ class.

sntbakosfinest, might as well not even try some of these people have taken 1 intro econ class prob in highschool so they know all about supply and demand. Apparently drilling oil here is the key cause its not like oil company's havent already seen that they can charge basically as much as they want and people will still buy their product.

The supply of oil inland on each continent is suprisingly, still very large, but ya, China is searching like crazy for people to buy oil from, including Venezuela, and ya, they've got a shitload of people...but then again...I was still under the impression India had more people in the country...or was it more aids infected... I don't remember..

The country itself is pretty progressive, however we are the "tree ******* hippies" who are searching like crazy people to find different ways of energy...well..we've found them, they've been around for a long time... wind, solar, nuclear... more are being built RIGHT NOW ..within 200 miles away from me..

Don't get me wrong, the midwest is working on this huge stretch of windmills... they want to go north all the way south on some stretch...and it could power a decent percentage of the entire country..

Nuclear powerplants are starting to spring up more and more, I speak about California because its the state that I know.. when people start talking about energy ect it involves me.. thats what I do for a living, its what I'm being taught, different ways of electricity.. something that is about as precious as oil in this country.

We have been drilling in ths US forever, its amazing to see the number of barrels that come out of the county I live in alone.. and I'm for inland drilling, even remote offshore drilling, distant, offshore drilling. It creates work for loads of men and women.. the unemployment rate in Kern County right now is like.. 3% and thats for the slobs who don't want to work pretty much..

Like I said, I'm pretty conservative, but theres certain things that I don't see as right, especially when I see what goes on around me and I speak to people who do work nationwide for oil and various types of energy..
