Default 98 gt vs 01 v6 camaro..

Just curious on which car you guys think would win if they raced.
the 98 gt (auto) has an intake, exhaust, and supposedly a hypertech chip, while the slowmaro (manual) is stock.

My moneys on the gt.

But you see, I know both of these fellas, and they're both saying they won, and theres no way to tell who won because it wasnt recorded.

Just curious.

I would hope the 98 GT, but anything can happen out there.

Oh yeah....the mustang driver said he even gave the slowmaro 1 car and beat him by 2.
The slowmaro driver is saying that it was dead even till he hit 5th gear...

Even the lowly non PI headed GT can beat a stock v6 camaro. They arent made to be fast.

Yeah. I was thinking the GT.
His argument was more convincing anyway, and Ive been in the camaro before and it didnt feel that quick when he was goin all out with it.

Apparently, according to the kat with the GT, I could probably beat him in my 96 v6, in a 1/8 mile race..long as I dont give him room to stretch his legs.

hell no...there is no way in hell that your 96 v6 will beat him. i am sorry but all of this talk about how fast your v6 is bull...only if you have a super/turbocharger, or a 4.2 stroker v6, than maybe (i have seen a 4.2 mildly built be about 20 hp more than a gt and about equal tq)

there is something your car lacks. its called torque. (and horsepower). torque is what gets you off the line. you would be about even with a civic ex

Hah.

Key word there was.....PROBABLY....
Besides, the kid can shift for ****.
But Im still baffled by how an rx8 beat him when I beat the rx8.
Unless the shifting comes into play, but the kid with the rx8 cant use the paddle shifters for **** either.

I still wanna race the slowmaro though.

I had a friend who had an 01 v6 camaro with the Y87 package, automatic. I never could beat him in my v6 mustang even with all the mods done to it. That Camaro was a freak, I watched him beat and LT1 Z28 Camaro once in it.

It's a factory option for steeper gears, t-lok, dual exhaust, and maybe something else. It made a difference becuase another girl we knew had a 02 v6 camaro auto, but didn't have the y87 package and it was noticebly slower.

SS was their top model with 335 horsepower
z28 was there next with 310 horsepower.

My bad. I got them backwards.
You're seriously a ******* douche. Im sorry.
Quit calling me names over the internet so you dont have to go through the process of getting your *** beat.

But you were, however, wrong.

The z28 came with 305hp and 225lbs/tq.
The SS came with 320hp and 335lbs/tq.

And thats for 2000.

Stock for stock an SS Camaro vs 03/04 Cobra is not a toss up. The SS Camaro's and the mach 1's and 01 Cobra's are a very close match, but not the 03/04 cobra's.

Here is exactly how a race would go between an SS Camaro and 03/04 Cobra. They are sitting at the light, they both take off. The Camaro jumps out to an early lead through 2nd gear, they both hit 3rd and there goes the Cobra by 8 car lengths. That is exactly what would happen to me in my mach when I raced Cobra's.

I can vouch for this with the Mach's. And it would happen everytime.

It was MM&FF, they were all pretty heavily modded, but the Machs were throwin' down on the '99-01 Cobras.

'99-01 Cobra IRS FTL.

Here's what I've noticed about the LS1. My buddy in his 04 GTO, LS1, I'm assuming? At the light I can kill him in 1st and 2nd gears. But when he hits 3rd gear I aint got nothing for him. He has the stock 350, he says. Or am I wrong on this one. He also has a single exhaust. But I haven't researched any HP numbers for stock 04 GTO's. Isn't the 04 GTO an LS1?

Yeah the first year or two of the new GTOs sucked badly. They had one exhaust pipe, and looked exatly like a GrandAm or something. The re-do of the new GTO got an LS2 (not sure) and got dual exhaust, hood scoops. It was better, but still ugly.

first year GTO is LS1 the 350 hasn't been used since 92 in camaros/firebirds. The next year for the GTo 05 got the ls2 which is alot more powerful and has the duel exhaust tips out the back and scoops. However the GTO didn't have single exhaust on the first year. The car doesn't have single its just has the two banks running on separate pipes then into that one muffler out the back.

Here is a pic of the 04's setup (aftermarket SLP setup but its how the factory design is):

Oh and need a cobra why do you always post who will win threads?

2004-2005 GTO's had the ls1 with 350 hp and dual exhaust with 1 side exit. 2006-2007 GTO's had the LS2 with 400 hp and dual exhaust with an exit like the mustang v8's.

i like the ls2 gto's. i dont know why. i think htat they look real cool
