Default 96 v6 mustang vs 01 v6 camaro

So Im due to race a friend of mine that just got a 2001 v6 camaro and hes been wanting to race me in it ever since I beat his talon. Now, the only thing aftermarket on this camaro, which is a standard btw,is the exhaust. other than that its stock, and its not even true dual exhaust. My car is completely stock, automatic unfortunately, but Ive beaten a 92 z28, and a 93 rs, and a 90-something v6 camaro and beat them all. Now Im thinking I can take his car in a quarter mile because he recently raced another friend of mines rx8, and the rx8 had him till about 110 and they didnt have a finish point, and I have beaten this rx8 countless times, so this should be a good race.
Just curious on what you guys think would win, cause Im a bit nervous haha. Been talkin alot of smack.

This will eventually become a broken record..

Street racing is frowned upon here by most..

Keep the racing at a track where the only people to get hurt will be you, or another competitor.

96 V6s don't put out much power..less then a 99-04..

That camaro will eat you.

I call bullshit on you taking an RX-8.. unless the dude really doesn't know how to drive.

And thats about it.

Yeah I say BS to the RX8 and the Z28 as well. He should win pretty easily, but if the driver sucks you never know.

Haha. Well Ill tell you what. BS on the rx8? Ill more than likely end up racing him again and Ill get it recorded next time. Its a close race in the quarter mile, and I do believe he would end up passing me once the limiter activates, but the rx8s really arent that quick in acceleration, unless you get the 200 something horsepower model. But his I believe has 180hp and maybe a bit less torque. Same goes with the camaro, it would eventually end up passing me also because both cars have more power up top than I do. And as for their driving skill, the rx8 is auto but has the paddle shifter option which the driver of that does suck at shifting himself, but hes race me letting the car shift its self and Ive beat him either way. last time I got him 2 out of 3 races. The driver of the camaro is also pretty bad at shifting cause he hasnt been driving a standard for very long. I think Im gonna beat the camaro as long as we have a set finish.

Btw, the 92 z28 driver keeps blaming his traction, and his tires are in pretty bad shape, but those old camaros are tanks..I opened the door and it must have weighed 100 pounds....

Those old camaros actually don't weigh as much as you think. My friend had a 92 or 93 and I thought it was a tank because of the doors. Z28 weighs 3273-3375 depending on automatic or manual. The RS's weigh a bit less. Depending on the year of the RX8, but ti could have had 197hp-239hp and the car weighs less.

i call bs as well on the RX8. it does a 14.8 in the quarter while your 96 six banger does a whopping 17.3 seconds. slower maybe cause you have an auto.

Hah. Well since you guys are doubting me so much, I feel obligated to get recorded evidence of this. Im going to try to get the rx8 to race me the same night I race the camaro. Its really close between me and the 8, but Im thinking my torque is whats giving me the advantage out of the dig.
Videos comin soon, fellas.

even if you have the tq to get off the line, you should still lose miserably...unless the rx8 driver doesnt know how to drive.

a lil off topic but, its amazing how much power those lil 1.3 rotaries can make

granted the RX8 SUCKS off the line (they always have and probably always will), i am again going to call shenanigans on this. theres no way youre going to pull on him in a 99-04 V6. i drive an 02 v6 everyday, it's not that fast. i've been beat by SUVs on the highway. its sad.

the rx8 is lighter than the 3.8 and probably makes about the same power, auto vs auto; i give the race to the zoomzoom.

the Z28 wins, sorry! its got a few more cylinders than you do. theres no way youre beating him unless he really, really, really sucks at driving manual. in that case, the race doesn't even count until he learns to drive. you can't say "i beat a Z28" without saying "i beat a Z28, but he missed ALL OF HIS SHIFTS."

the z28 is an auto, and he does do alot of unnecessary burning out off the line, but Ive beat him, and like I said Im getting video evidence of this race. I tried tonight, but the v6 camaro driver said he was busy when I called. I wonder though what you guys are gonna say when I beat the rx8?

I will admit that they would most likely beat me in a roll race, but so far they aint beat me out of the hole with the exception of the v6 camaro because I havent raced him yet.

Im gonna make this happen soon. Maybe saturday I can arrange this since the camaro driver back out tonight.

I'm in an 02 v6.. my times at the track are better then a 96's significantly..

An 02 Camaro v6 will damn near keep up with a 99-04 GT until 3rd gear..

It'll eat your 96 ...

The RX8 with more power and less weight will still beat a v6..

So you're either full of ****, or your friends can't drive.

You never said it was a 4 speed you said you thought it had about 180 hp so the conclution I came to was a valid one and even if it is the 4 speed you still would probably lose

You say you have a 1996 v6 that is stock well I say the things I say because I have a 1998 v6 that is slightly modded and I know I would lose to a rx8 and my car is probably a little faster than yours.

i dont care if you post a video of you beating him until you post a video of each of the cars at a drag strip doing a 1/4 mile pass with times. both of those cars SHOULD beat you, with a competent driver.

Hah. I myself. think that the rx8 SHOULD win, but he hasnt.
I would think that the camaro should win by alot more, but the rx8 took him. So lets blame it on their driving skill. Isnt that still part of the game? Lets say Im the better driver, and I win......well, bad drivers or not, I still win either way.

this goes back to the ricers running around saying OH I BEAT A COBRA because he missed a shift to 3rd and the little honda shitrag takes off with the vtec and fartcan. you just cant say 'oh i beat a v8 z28 with my v6' without mentioning that the driver sucked *****.

No offence but how can you say you are the better driver when you have an auto? All you do is put your foot to the floor.

Hah. Well they probably do suck. But the z28 I beat was an automatic, I figured I beat it cause its older than dirt, and the rx8 I figured just had crappy acceleration. So I cant say they missed their shifts if they dont have to shift. Now, If I were racing their cars against mine, their cars may win.
Thinking about it, I may see if they're down for that cause Ive never driven a camaro or an rx8. Course.....I dont really want them in my car....haha

There is no way you can beat an rx-8 with a v6 auto. he must be paddleshifting at like 3000 rpms. those rotory motors make power at high rpms
