Default Test Drove a ...

05+ Mustang GT 5SP

the guy at the dealership came out as i got out of mine and was lookin at my car and he started asking me what mods and etc i have done to it. then i walked over and looked at the GT. he said "you know what, the keyes are in it. start it up and take it for a test drive(BTW I AM 17!)" so i do so. then once i got back he asked if i got it what i would do to it and etc. then he asked me what i owe on mine still and i said it is paid off, he look stunned lol. so then he said " if you get it would you want to trade in yours?" i told him eh, no. lol. but then he gave me a card and said if i wanted it he would give me a great deal on it.

+1 but that would be a steal. I would be surprised to see anymore than 3 or 4K

yeah I was taking in considerations with the mods he has done to his car they might jump it up, but normally a v6 is only in Blue Book value will be what you have said around 3-4k at most which is sad for what people are charge for a car of the same nature.

I would get rid of the V6 for a GT anyday, but you have wasted so much money on the car recently it just wouldn't be worth it. Why don't you just enjoy your car now and start saving for more important things. Remember, you don't have a High School diploma or anything so you won't get very far in this job market. Save for something thats more important down the road.

so your dad paid off your car for you and a car salesman tried to sell you a car. What part of this story is supposed to surprise or impress us?

18/19mpg is horrible, for in town driving that is pretty standard for V6's, I have been getting 20/21 my self. Highway I pulled 28mpg, however a GT owner over on 3.8 mustang got 34mpg out of his GT on the highway, the GT by power/weight should do better then the V6.

Something must be horribly wrong with my car, I consistently get 15mpg no matter where/how I drive.

yikes, you have a very common condition, especially found in mustang/camaro/corvette type drivers, it is called the "lead foot" it leads to very poor gas mileage, lol

modified cars usually go directly to wholesale and they dont give you as much on trade in's.

i had my car appraised at carmax (reverted back to stock) last week and they only want to give me 3500$ for it. it's a 2002 V6 Auto with 83,xxx miles. Took it to a few other dealers that day and nobody would give me any more on a trade in.

I would like to see that 34mpg in a GT. I think it's bs. My old 98 4 banger eclipse got 33-34mpg on the highway. I would believe like 28mpg, but not 34.

I hope you wouldn't spend 20Gs on a 99-04 GT. That would just be ridiculous. At some point you have to stop and think about what you really want. You start numerous threads on what you are going to buy next, and hten should I get this or shoudl I get that, then you just buy both. Then you say you want a new car. My god, you have only been on this board for what a few months now and you've probably done more mods to your car then a lot of people who've been on here for years and you're only 17.

Alright, I'll believe it now. I couldn't imagine driving on the highway, going 435miles and only driving 55-65mph. The extra 10mpg isn't worth driving that slow. When I drive to SoCal, it's about 380 miles where I'm going and it takes me on average of 5 to 5 and a half hours going between 75-80mph. I couldn't imagine driving 55mph.

very true, but with gas creeping over $4 now, there may come a time when mpg becomes more important to one then just getting there in a reasonable time.
