Feakin insane!
i went into the gas station to fill her up and everypump had a sign on it that said you had to pay inside before you pump. so i went in and told her 20$ and walked back out and it was ready to pump and shutoff at 20bucks. jeez

i hate having to pre-pay. i usually don't know how much i'm gonna need beforehand. especially with the prices jumping around. the other day i filled up at wal-mart, it's not pre-pay, but i only got 10 bucks worth in before it just kept shutting off everytime i tried to pump more. i'll never buy gas there again.

I always pre-pay, whether the gas station requires it or not. I usually know exactly how much to put in my car. I don't like not knowing how much I'm going to have to shell out for gas, so that's why I don't like to pump first. I guess you can say I like to be prepared.
This is actually what I do everytime before I fill it up. I sit in my car and calculate exactly how much I need. (Yes, I'm a damn nerd, I know.)
A full tank = 300 miles per tank.
218 miles out of the tank = 82 miles left.
82 miles / 18 miles per gallon = 4.5 gallons left.
Car can hold 16.5 - 4.5 = 12-12.5 gallons.
If gas is 3.75 * 12 = $45.
My method, no matter how weird it may be, has never let me down. I usually hit 295-300 miles until I'm empty. I always come out full. I usually can go about 8 days (one and a half work weeks) on a full tank.
Having a 'computer' in your car that tells you how many miles you have until empty really comes in handy.

Man you guys must be way behind or something. We've had pre-pay here for a long time. I've been driving for 10 years now and we had to pre-pay. It's just like everything else you buy. You gotta pay before you can get it.

Same here. I always prepay, because that's what i grew up having to do. I remember when a little bell would ring for each gallon would turn the round dials on the pump. LOL

lol the stations in my area have been pre pay since i came to canada. actually theres a few that have lightened up and allow you to pay later....mind you now theres 3 cameras at every pump. but thats fine with me if i can fill er up instead of just puttin in a 20 or 30.

Every place I've ever been to is pre-pay, and I use my debit card so I just fill it up rather than going inside and paying for whatever I need. I think the wal-mart stations here you don't have to pre-pay but I don't use that gas for the Mustang, only go there when I fill up my girlfriend's or Mom's car.

Sounds like the gas stations in your area are joining the 21st century. Get used to pre-paying then. I'm from Cali and have never even seen a station that wasn't pre-pay

Gas stations that don't have pre-pay or stupid. It would be way too easy to steal gas. Either way you have to go inside and pay if you are using cash. Whats the difference of doing it before you pump versus after? It's like people who back into spots. Either way you have to back up going in or back up going out. Same thing.

Since I've been living in Arkansas for the last couple of years, and IDK if anyone else has ever seen this, but sometimes in small towns if I stop for gas. They will have a sign on the gas pump that will read "We do not accept checks unless we know you." or something to that effect. I LOL when I see it becuase it's so "small town-back woods redneck stuff. So you can't use a check unless the guy working that day knows you.
