Like Racing Games? Wish You Owned A Mustang GT-R? Come On In!
From 1Up.com;
Codemasters released a playable demo on Thursday for their upcoming racing game GRID (the North American re-branding for their long running TOCA/Race Driver series) on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. But rather than offer the usual couple of cars and race tracks to get a taste of the full game (although that's there too), Codemasters has made this demo a little more interesting. Players can compete in a Time Attack mode, and those who turn in the top five runs will be flown out to San Francisco for the GRID launch event. There, they'll compete one more time to win an eBay Motors-branded Ford Mustang GT-R.
Participation does, however, require a little bit of legwork. Rather than have the demo itself submit your times, you have to go to Codemaster's official GRID community site and enter your time yourself. Once authenticated, your times will then be ranked on the online leaderboard against all other submitted and verified times. The contest runs until May 25, and there doesn't seem to be any prohibition against submitting as many time trial runs as you can, so keep practicing, Mustang fans.
As for the rest of the demo itself, it offers three cars (Nissan S15 Silvia, BMW 320si, and naturally, the Ford Mustang GT-R) on three different tracks. There's also a 12-player online multiplayer mode on two of the three available tracks.
GRID is due for release June 3 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as versions for the PC and Nintendo DS.
