My 99 Nissan Sentra is dead..
Ok so I tried to start the sentra up today, so I can take my friends to a restaurant.
And the damn car wouldnt start. Its been sitting there for a while to!! lol I turned on my headlights and the are REALLY dim...... plus its the same battery I had in it since I bought it new...so the battery is like 5 years old... Im gonna have to get a new battery. I have never replaced a battery so please dont laugh at my retarded questions...lol How should I go about replacing the battery? can I use a (metal) adjustable wrench to disconnect the terminals? (I wont get shocked using a metal wrench on the terminal connectors?) Im thinking all I have to do is first disconnect the negative....and then ..disconnect the postive....then take the battery out...and go to my local Pep-Boys and Have them figure out exaclty which battery to buy,,and then intall the new battery. Positive first..and then negative...and then drive around a bit for the Computer to learn everything again...right? |
Correct, but keep the old battery or they'll charge you a disposal fee. Just go up there and tell them what kind you need. And yes, negative first, or youll be in for a light show! lol. Oh yea, and if you have one of those recycling places like for aluminum cans and stuff, most of them take used batteries and pay you like a buck or so for them, so take em there.

Expect to pay about 50 bucks to 70 bucks. The good stuff can go for up to about 120 bucks. Maybe the cheaper ones about 40 or so. Not too cheap, but worth having a working car.

Get red top Optima battery about $100 at Costco. I use the yellow since its a weekend car.
