Finally! Someone else who likes the heavy ****. I listen to all shall perish, the black dahlia murder, the absence, faceless, the red chord, etc. My gf hates it to, she listens to her ipod while in my car lol. I do play it pretty loud.

Some of it is screaming etc.. I like that stuff, sometimes you need some Melodee too though. Good to see another mastodon lover. For some chiller tunes I have been checking out Trivium which is pretty good. There newest CD is pretty cool heavy **** then good melodies which is nice when your in the mood for it.

Not many people into death metal anymore it seems like. And good luck finding a hot chick who's into it too. They are dikes or weird as **** at least at the concerts.

Yeah. Talented at sucking Mah Nard.

I just cant get into the music sitting down and listening to tool, i can sit there and listen to a LOT of bands, but tool is no higher quality than the background music they play in elevators.

Man, i like all kinds of music, seriously, all kinds, and not just the poppy bands either. I like the Hard & Fast, Dark & Slow, Dark & Fast, Experimental, alternative, beats, Gangster rap, Hip hop, trach pop, glam rock, all types of Industrial, Techno, Breaks, Blues, Jazz,

pretty much EVERYTHING but Techno, Country, and Tool.

I dont see anything remarkable about Tool when compared to bands like Legendary Pink Dots, or Even low fidelity allstars, all Tool does is go on these bullshit long as **** tangents that the "elitist" tool crowds all swear by.
Dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with going off on a 10 minuit solo and taking the song in a completly different direction, but tool cannot do this NEARLY as well as Led Zepplin, Eric Clapton, BB King, The Legendary Pink Dots, or any other number of bands or composers who dont stick to the normal rules of music.

There really is nothing fantastic about tool, they have 3-4 songs i like, Perfect Circle isnt any better IMO.

The only thing that really sets them apart is they are one of the very very few rock bands that do what they do and still get air time on the radio. But when compared to a lot of other bands, there just aint anything that impressive about thier boring *** drawn out ****. There are countless bands that dont get air time that are a hellofalot better at that stuff than tool is.

Tool aint nothing new, nothing they have done is revolutionary, for the type of music they are doing and the styles in which they do this, they are mediocre at best.

lol

Geez, I must be getting old. I can remember when Judas Priest was considered crazy rock. And if you listened to Iron Maiden you were, just plain old whacked out on something. LOL, I still like some Ozzy every now and then, specially when it was with Black Sabboth..

This will probably get moved to the vid section, where it can die a peaceful death, but Winger used to be extreme, until Beavis and Butthead ruined it for them. Kip is still pissed off bout that. LOL. . I like some of their songs, but I also like Ventures too. I have a wide range of musical tastes.

Nickelback is terrible, I would be very hesitant to even call it music. Every "song" they have written sounds the exact same, and the music is far from complex. Same goes for Hinder.

I myself am a big fan of Pearl Jam. Incubus, RATM, NIN, even Jack Johnson I thoroughly enjoy.

Chad Kroger's voice reminds me of a really long, airy, and weak fart. The kind of fart you'd let out of you were too lazy to apply enough pressure to release it.

Alice in Chains is my favorite band, followed by White Zombie, Acid Bath, Type O Negative, Marilyn Manson, Mad Season, Gwar, Pantera, Down, Sex Pistols, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, and too many others to type.

I don't hate Nickelback because their songs are 'radio friendly'. Hell, if that was the case, I wouldn't listen to some of the bands I've listed above. I hate them because, like someone else said, all of their songs sound the same. Kind of like shitty-*** Seether.

I dunno about all THAT, Nickeback isn't anywhere near my favorite, but they're not THAT bad geeezus, I saw them live, and as a musician, trust me, they know what they're doing.....yeah, music sounds basically the same across albums, but so f*ckin' what, Chad Kroeger's gettin' paid and laid *L*

Now BlackSunshine has a decent list going, I'm especially down with Mad Season, Alice in Chains, Megadeth..........for my all time faves, I'd add in Soundgarden (FTMFW!!!!), Metallica, Pantera, and Down.....THEN we got a list goin' :P

IMO, any musician who does what they do solely for the money, girls, fame, etc. is nothing but a huge tool. Hell, Nickelback even writes songs about nothing but that stupidity. I mean come on people, try to be a little less obliviously retarded to today's entertainment. It's all turning to **** because people don't appreciate stuff for what it really is. Same thing goes for reality tv, it's terrible. Anyone see the recent news about the American Idol screw-up, pretty funny stuff...

If there was no money, girls, fame, Etc. nobody would ever bother picking up a guitar.

not totally true, but that applies all too often. I play music...piano...and only for my own amusement.

Haha, I think music would probably be a lot better off without those people then. Not to mention this thread wouldn't exist because we wouldn't have bands like Nickelback...

Uhh...

So what are musicians supposed to do?

sure there is a point where people sell out, look at metallica, back in the day they refused to have ANYTHING to do with MTV with the exception of thier "One" video, they were so hardcore against selling out, then the Black Album comes out and they all change thier image and go all corperate, but they still rock out some badass ****, and they are still talented as hell.

I mean, if i wrote a killer album, and made it big, and made tons of money and was banging tons of superhot chicks that would have been nromally out of my league, buying basass cars and a couple houses, you bet your *** i would try to write another album, and you bet your *** i would have dollar signs in my eyes, however, if the album bombs then obviously i diddnt put a lot of effort into it cause i was only thinking about money.

but if i put out hit after hit after hit, well, the numbers and records sales really say a lot at that point, apparently while nickleback isnt yer taste, and you think thier stuff is very low quality, there are millions upon millions of people who wholeheartedly disagree enough to buy thier CD's and ringtones, and all the other stuff nickelback related.

Just because somone gets famous and enjoys the fame doesent mean they no longer hold a passion for the music.

i'd love to get paid to do that ****.

Oh fame is definitely a part of becoming a popular musician, I am on the same page with you there. But when someone starts writing songs about it, it just makes them look like they are completely full of themselves and about as shallow as ever. I prefer songs written with meaning, take Rage Against the Machine for example. I am okay with a band making money. I am not okay with it becoming their number 1 priority.

lol... that is my issue with the hip hop industry. My wife listens to the hiphop station most of the time, i do part of the time.

its like all they do is grab 2-3 big names, get some generic *** beats and try to come up with a clever catch phraze then they market the **** out of it, sell it hard, and a week later they have a new flavor.

llike that stupid *** Cyclone song. talk about garbage.

the stuff is bubblegum, you pop it in yer mouth, chew it for 10 min, then spit it out and never look back.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but's getting pretty interesting.

Does anyone like Candlebox? "Far Behind" is nice song I think. Kinda like a ballad and a riff all in one. Starts out slow and then jams.

I do enjoy that song quite a bit. Haven't heard much else from Candlebox, but I believe they are supposed to be similar to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, other grunge bands... What do you guys think about Nirvana? I am a huge Pearl Jam fan as I stated before, and I guess there was kind of an unspoken hate between the two groups. Nirvana seems to be much more popular, but their music is much simpler, and their box set sounds like ****. I think they are a tad overrated, not bad to listen to every now and then though.

I used to hate Nirvana until I really listened to them once or twice. They have some really great songs. I'm a southern rock/metal kinda guy but I've learned to like grunge and the whole west coast thing. Kurt Cobain was a a great singer but his personal demons made him intriging. Trying to figure out what he was thinking and what his songs were about. Plus Nirvana always had that great rock beat. Thanks to the drummer, What's his name..
