What year 350 is it? What are the mods to it? Do you have a scan tool to monitor the front a/f ratio sensors? They should be reading a somewhat steady 1.5volts all the time. Also check the A/F alpha for bank 1 and 2. Is the car throwing any codes? Nissan tuned the motor to run a little leaner then normal due to the lack of a egr system to help clean up the exhaust. Also if you have a scan tool let me know what the Self learn is reading should be around 95-105%. If you can get me some of these numbers I can help you narrow down your problem.

Its a 2007 Bone Stock. The car is throwing a code that says its running lean. I don't have a scan tool.

I doubt this has anything to do with it, but he never had any problems until he put a K&N drop in filter in the car. He took it out as soon as the CEL light came on.

Do you know the code number? If you can get me that I will get the logic and service manual write up for the car. I am a nissan master tech so I have access to all the "confidential" crap that nissan puts out for us. Do you know if it is the HR motor or not? Easy way to tell would be the twin throttle bodies one on each side of the engine.

It has two intakes so yes I assume so. I'm going to ask my friend for the code tomorrow.

He drove the car for a little bit with the CEL on and then he was driving and suddenly lost all power.

This might be a stupid question! But since the car is bone stock and fairly new being a 2007 model, I would assume that it still have factory warranty? Why don't you take it to the nearest stealership and have them worry about it?

You have to have a reoccuring problem, i think after the 3rd try you can apply for it. Nissan is currently on the 3rd try and if it fails then he'll do that.

Did you find out what code he is throwing? Or better yet can you get me a VIN number? Nissan tracks all warranty repair work on their cars I would like to see what has been done. I looked into it and there is 2 TSB's available for lean run conditions it depends on what code is being thrown. To get off topic for a moment 4.6 love the "dumbass tech" comment was uncalled for. Half the time are hands are tied by Nissan they have a procedure that they want followed. If the manufacturer wants us to replace a part and see what happens we do it. Granted there are bad technicians out there you cant hold it against all of us and aren't your a mod? I would think you should be setting a example of proper etiquette on these forums. Not insulting a fellow mustang owner that was trying to help.
