Is it ironic to be a conscientious consumer? Someone is still going to get ripped off, and it doesn't matter if is not going to be us.
Went to my local ford dealership on friday to pick up my grill pony, and saw a GT500 vert sitting in the showroom. They wanted $53,000 for it.
Not bad considering the MSRP is $47k. So none of us are going to sit here and bitch about how much of a rip 6k markup is.
Meanwhile, at the hall of super best friends, the KR starts at 80k.
Coincidence that the markup on this KR is exactly enough to buy a GT500 vert (marked up) at my local dealership? I think not.
(there is no secret conspiracy here, its just amusing that the markup is enough to buy another very high dollar ponycar)

what makes you think I couldn't afford this if i really wanted? Did you do my taxes this year?...are you my boss?....do you sign my paychecks?..the answer to all of these is no. You have no idea what some of us actually make in our professional careers. Sure there are some kids here. Then there are people like me here, educated with really good paying jobs. Would it be a financial stretch to buy this? absolutely, but I could do it, if I really wanted too. But I won't, because its not worth that much, to me at least. Besides, just because something is out of someones price range doesn't mean they can't form an opinion of its worth to them.

Wow... there are some pretty thin skinned people here!

For the record... I wouldn't pay the 133KK either. I have never paid MSRP on any vehicle I have ever purchased.

Its not about being thin skinned, its about someone having an elitist point of view. And I spoke what others most likely thought of that comment, but thats how I roll. BTW, who the hell pays MSRP anymore.....its too easy to get around that.

That's kind of a dumb point of view if you ask me. I think a lot of people know they wouldn't get it if they could afford it. It's a matter of principle! haha

I hardly have an elitist point of view. Your anger should be directed at the greed of some "stealerships" who take the rules of supply and demand a little too seriously.

Example: a megadealer (he has over 35 dealerships selling everything from Smart cars to Rolls Royce) marked up the "Bullit" version of the Mustang by $20K over MSRP.

You can't get a Ford GT for anywhere close to that price. They don't even make them anymore and when they did they had them marked up around 250,000. You Can find them used for about 200,000 but why would you pay that price for a Ford GT?

What do you want to know?

I am a Deputy Fire Chief, work at the State Fire Academy, have my own detailing venture on the side and do some freelance writing and reporting for two local newspapers.

I own a 2006 Tungsten Gray Mustang GT, my son has a 2001 Mustang.

Along with me and a few others, Jack got his account deleted by some hairbrained person, and just like me they restored our post count but not our join date. we both have been here for years.

LOL....

8,400 posts in 7 months, damn, that doesnt look good does it? haahahah

yah i dont know how long i have been on here... 3 years maybe...

Anyways DaGonz, welcome aboard, sorry about my prev comment, but yeah some people take acception to somone coming on and saying that kinda junk when yer brand new, half the time those comments from from some rich little 17 year old kid.

But yeah, it aint about being jealous cause i couldnt afford one, could i? no... but im sure i could swing a GT500 if i really wanted my wife to divorce me. lol.

its just the point that ford makes some bitching rides but unfortunatly the middleman has to assrape everything with some insane markups.

i mean come on, 40k for a bullet? 38k for a Shelby GT? you would have to be an idiot to pay that much, unfortunatly there are enough idiots out there who are dumb enough to pay a 25% markup which keeps the cars way more expencive than they have any right to be.

I wish we could just order mustangs straight from the plant rather than dealing with dealerships.

Thank you. I'll be honest.. I am far from mechanically inclined... and I am impressed with the mod some people have done to their cars. Detailing is a passion and therapy for me.. it is cheaper than going to the pshrink!

If she did divorce you, you wouldn't have the money and she's probably get a barracuda for an atoerney who would include the car in the settlement! I'm fortunate that I have climbed the ladder in my FD, and after putting my son through college, I had some extra $$$ to get my 'Stang.

In this week's edition of Autoweek, somebody has a 2008 Shelby GT 500KR for sale for $150K(and the car hasn't even been built yet!)

There are some greedy "bahstids" out there. Of course, they get someone with the "doe in the headlights" look, and to a dealer, it's hunting season!

I am fortunate.. my local Ford dealer has always been reasonable with their pricing. Of course, doing your homework before going in and being prepared to walk away is always a necessity!
