Default Auto Detailing

ok so i'll need a summer job(just wanting to make some extra cash for gas and etc.), so my parents own this other house and garage place(on a state road thats very busy). the place is also a bussiness place(you can open one up cause the people who had it before had some kinda shop. had a car lift in the garage and etc.). so i was thinking about starting up a car detailing place...but don't know where to start. i can buy a lot of products and tools and stuff. was just wanting to know where to begin.....

get to as many local car shows as possible because for the most part thats your target market. Setup booths at them if you want serious business you obviously to be getting top of the line stuff. Advertise locally you just need to pick up a few and then let word of mouth get you the rest.

If you are going to charge to detail cars you better start learning about it asap because it takes skill and practice before anyone becomes decent at it. Took me around 2 years before i would say i am good. I'm still trying to figure out my polisher and its been over a year of experimenting on different cars, pads etc...

http://autopia.org/index.php will help you out go read.

I don't think you'll be ready by summer to start detailing cars as a side business. By the way, if you don't have a job now, how the hell are you buying all this stuff for your car?

i don't have a job, so i was thinking i could have plenty of time for extra practice.. and for money.. well i would help my dad at work, work around the house, work for grampa and stuff like that.... its really cool he actually paid me $5o just to wash/clay/polish/wax/clean inside/rims/ and engine of his old truck. that was about 7 months ago, and since its been inside and has not seen rain all you have to do is dust it off and it still shines really nice for cheaper stuff...

also on a side note how good of a job can you do by hand?? i know i won't be able to get as many small scratches and swirls, but i want to get good by hand before i try to use a buffer
