Ok, so I recently did one of those freebie sites like the ones that send you ipods but I'm getting a PS3 and Madden 08 for free. Should be here within a month and I just have a question about the blu-ray. I bought my T.V. when HD was first getting popular and it didn't come with a built in HD receiver. It was described as HD compatible just not ready. So in order to watch HD channels through my cable or something like that I would have to have a HD receiver. So here is the main question, will I need a HD receiver to play and actually take advantage of the blu-ray DVD player in the PS3?

Yes you would. Just like you need the receiver for HD channel, you will need for the Blu Ray
