Why do we love these cars so much?
This car is my pride and joy, I clean it all of the time, and treat it as if were a ferrari. I don't let anyone eat in it, or bring cups in it. I'm a senior in HS and out of all of the kids in my class who have BMWs, Jags, mercedes, etc I have the cleanest car in the best appearance&mechanical condition. I'm also the only person in my class who puts money into cars (No joke, everyone thinks I'm nuts for spending money on stuff for my car...hippy generation eh?)
And it's just a V6 automatic Mustang, one of hundreds of thousands that has a poor resale value, worse performance, and even worse quality. It gets crappy gas mileage, the sound system sucks, all kinds of **** rattles, windshield wiper motor likes to give me a hard time, it's slower than a mini-van, the most luxurious thing about it is the power driver's seat. The auto transmission is sluggish and has the worst throttle response ever, the steering is loose, and the stock suspension is sub-par. The worst part is that it's a V6 so it doesn't really have anything going for it, "It's just a V6" has to be the most common phrase I've ever heard.
The weirdest part is that I LOVE this car, I wouldn't trade it for any other car in the world in the same price range, Hell I wouldn't take a $30,000 honda civic over this. I don't know what the hell it is, these are perhaps the few cars that you can do just about anything to, and they look damn good. the 99-04's in particular definitely have great aesthetics. Now that I got the wheels and springs on the car I appreciate it so much more when I look at it, it just looks way better than most other cars I see. Working on it is so much fun and I get a lot of appreciation learning about how it works and how different things can improve different areas, if I had the income I'd be installing a new part every day.
What do you like about your car?

i fell in love with the mustang when i was 12, i all ways wanted one so i save my money from 12-16.
i wanted a GT but it cost to much so i got my six, yes it not the fastest car but once its supercharged and im pushing 300 rwhp stock GTs look out.

When I was younger, (about 9) My mother had a 5.0 Stang. I loved riding in it and just loved the sound. I felt like I was in a monster! I always wanted one .......
Other than falling in love with the mustang when I was younger..I just like the Attention my car brings and everything about it...The only thing PISSING ME OFF RIGHT NOW ABOUT MY CAR IS THE CD THAT IS STUCK IN IT ...heh...

I love it because it becomes a hobby. It's something you work towards and can take pride in. Bringing the car out in the spring is like the feeling of getting my license all over again. I actually enjoy running errands and the commute to school. I had a girl in my geology lab ask me the other day if I was "One of THOSE people...that drive around for the fun of it."... and I said HELL YEAH

i have loved mustanges sense i can remember my step dad always had love for the 60's mustangs and it rubed off on me. i finly got mine at the age of 24 and it needs a lot of work but it still gets looks like its a nice ride. after i got my car i called my step dad and told him that he was not the only one in the family that had a mustang, although i like his beter (69 mach1). the mustang is an all time ameican muscle car and if you dont love them then some thing is rong with you.

my car is sex embodied...it is equal parts beauty and machismo...it ******* rocks...it can draw the stares away from everything from 350z's to ferrari's...when it rumbles down broadway somethin magical happens...it owns the city...it owns the suburbs...it owns the open road

I love it for so many reasons like you pcola, and because it is mustang, no matter where you go people will almost always turn and stare because it is a mustang, V6 or V8, 90% of the people won't know the difference at first. The other day I was driving by an elementary school and I was stopped to let the little kids cross the cross-walk and one turned to his friend and was like "dude check out that mustang, I want one of those one day" and that right there just adds to the satisfaction.

I love the fact that when i drive up the road, people stop and stare. Oh, and girls love it.
Oh and PCola, that picture is sick. I bet you could plug up those holes though.

I think, for the ones of us which a Mustang was our first car, it has alot to do with newfound freedom and something that it purely yours that you can take pride in. MY first Mustang was something that made it possible for me to set myself out of the crowd of other car owners, but yet become apart of a great community that shared the exact same interest. When I was 15 I never even considered another type of car, Mustang or nothing. I only test drove one stang, the one I bought.
